  1. I was there this past Saturday. It was amazing. Not sure when it ran all that much, but sure looked like it poured dogs and cats either Saturday morning or Friday night. A few boats were there, and some guys with kayaks as well... They didn't venture by the discharge but were jigging the current. I caught a keeper at 22inch around 3:45pm right when the tide started changing. The action was not as good as the weekend before but the conditions were great, no winds not too cold, conditions were better than any other days this year. Quiet, calm and glossy. Brian, are you going there soon?
  2. Alright guys & gals. Last year's winter fishing was really a blast. Caught some nice stripers mostly at the calvert cliff power plant on light tackle. Although the weather is becoming cold, the action there is starting to get hot. Landed a nice 24incher on BKD this past Sunday, pic below. Marked a bunch of Fish at the Pax river while cruising there too. Anyone planning on doing some rockfishing this winter? I am trying to go out there every weekend weather permitting. Heard about another discharge in the Pax river but i never really fished there. Could be a good option of the weather isn't good enough for the bay, has anyone been there lately? Anyone else planning on fishing this winter?
  3. Thanks so much HJS. I ll keep an eye out and hopefully mine will show up soon. Thanks again.
  4. Hi Guys, I bought a boat and registered it in Maryland about 2 years ago, my registration ends at the end of the month. I was under the impression that DNR would mail my boat registration renewal notice. I didn't receive anything yet. Since this is the first time I renew my registration, I wanted to reach out and ask to see how it works. Wasn't sure if you already got yours by mail or if it is only done in person. Thank you.
  5. I have been looking into buying a new baitcasting reel and can't seem to decide which would work best for what I do. I am looking to get a round reel for jigging lures up to 3oz and spot live lining, and also looking for a low profile reel for casting both bucktails up to 2.5oz and top water lures... So far I came accross the abu garcia record 61 hc and for the low profile the abu garcia revo toro winch 61. I find a lot of mixed reviews on both items. Some can't live without them and others have had problems with both reels since day one and don't recommend them. Maybe some of you guys can recommend some good reel(s) for me to buy... Open to all suggestions. Thanks.

  7. Hi everyone, just discovered this website thanks for it. I live in the Northern VA and fish the Solomons area usually all year long. Are you guys also braving the element and enjoying this catch and release season with less traffic and crab pots? Right now I am mainly jigging at the power plant, so far I can't complain about the action but curious to see if anyone is catching them elsewhere or using a different technique? I have seen a couple post from NOVA residents, any of you guys fishing this winter?
  8. Same thing here. Used to catch them like crazy at the Pax river before heading to the gas docks. This year every single one of them was huge making live lining noneffective. Any of you guys also noticed that croackers were not as abundant as the previous years?
