I’ve fished in colder temps, but not with that much ice floating and debris around. Never ended up wetting a line, so drove around and checked out beaches, birds and of course….ice.

I sat on my ass and tied flies and watched football on Saturday. Couldn’t do it again yesterday so I had to get out and get some fresh air. ;)
This was earlier last week up on one of the islands north of me and on one of our ferries.

These guys were looking for rabbits, squirrels or stray pets with in 20' of my motor home every day.. They were out and about at mid-morning and early afternoons in San Clemente CA State Beach Campground... I thought it strange to see them out  so bold in mid-day..

Those guys look pretty healthy. I’d bet they’re pulling a Yogi Bear and knocking off pick-a-nick baskets. Not to mention just looking for hand outs.

I have not seen any and unfortunately, the link on the magazine is invalid. I've only the one using a drill. I only use Bimini in 50 lbs and above. If I don't tie it perfectly, 70% of actual breaking strength (60lbs and higher) is at least 42 lbs and that is twice the heaviest drag that I fish.

    Edit: found it

    Thanks!

With braid, line twist kills most hand tied Bimini. That's why the winner manually wrapped the line back down, instead of applying tension and "walking the wrap" back over the initial 16 wraps.

I generally do a 25 turn Bimini and walk the line back down under tension. I’ve not seen the back wrap done manually. Anything on YT you could recommend?

  5. Maybe get the other dad to buy you a beer sometime over the summer. Otherwise stay out if it. What went down is between your son and the other kid so don’t go sideways over it.

Frankly, it’s good on your kid’s school that they relented when they saw the evidence your son was trying to do the right thing. Lots of admins would have bounced him none the less because of zero tolerance or didn’t use his inside voice B.S.

    Good on your kid!

  6. Geez- what would your daughters & granddaughters think about this thread? Are you raising your boys to act like this?

Maybe I have a bit more self-respect and see no reason to go there. Frankly, I find talking about the attributes of, or talking about banging some young woman 1/3 my age ( and her mom) to be pretty pathetic.

    Peace out…

We get some humidity here in St Louis so lots of sweat. This thing works really well. Google it and it will pull it up on Amazon. They don't dry super fast so buy the two pack to swap if you ride twice a day or every day.

I don't have any idea what that means.

My apologies. I, perhaps, was pulling your leg a bit. Since it looks like you did pretty well in the 100 mile events, I just might have been giving you a little bit of good natured **** about doing the ultra endurance rides. One of my younger brother’s best friends does quite well in them.

Go and look up pinyons and pines 2023.  it started today. My brother’s friend is currently 5th and 107 miles in on the 500 mile course.

The big one in June is Tour Divide which starts in Banff, Alberta and finishes in Antelope Wells, New Mexico.

Me? It’s a good day when I get to 16 miles and 2500 feet of climbing!

  9. Best of luck to your wife. My wife was taken to the ER while she was up in Idaho a couple months ago. She was out snowshoeing and couldn’t make it 100 yards.

When they did the angiogram they couldn’t find any blockage so they give the diagnosis of cardiomyopathy. I had to fly up to get her home.

So far the testing showed she has a very mild case but haven’t determined the exact type. Exercise, LOW sodium diet. Fingers crossed.
