      I have been buying from a couple shops here in the Bay Area, but need to take advantage of the better selection online. 

      West Marine- but I haven’t seen them in a while

      Both work equally well. Pluses for the larger is that it will cast farther than the smaller one. Pluses for the smaller is that it might be a little closer to the actual size of most bait in my area. Also for the smaller would be that California halibut are more likely to hit it than the larger.

    Jeff got my first Saturday similar size to yours. Was gonna go out today but hear the cops are giving tickets in Santa Cruz, 4 guys from Freemont stopped in a 7-11 and all for were ticketed 1000 each as they didn't have an explanation for why they were there. Do you know if the beaches are shut down when I went Saturday I didn't check as I assumed beaches would be open for fishing, basically Caltrans had marked most of hwy 1 with no parking signs everywhere. I caught mine at Pescadero.

      Hi Gary - I just got back from a quick trip to the beach, and I got a ticket parking ticket! I thought I was in a safe location..

       

      Up here the beaches are open for locals only. If you drive to a beach you are in violation of the order,  if you walk you are good. What is happening down there, I think, is they have had to fully close the popular easily accessible beaches because nothing less was doing the trick. I think what you need to do is to figure out a more remote beach that isn’t under as tight of a lock down, or much scrutiny, and has reasonably safe parking near the trail head.

       

      Yeah, those guys from Fremont, they did everything wrong, complete ass-hats.
