  1. I don't post too much any longer, since i dont get out much. But I rejoined my local lake this year so hopefully that will change. i got out early yesterday morning for a few hours. the cool weather and rain kept everyone else off the water, had the lake to myself. Only had 2 hours, started with a small crankbait and picked up a few small perch, both yellow and the elusive white perch. switched over to a swimbait and picked up a nice LM about 3lbs.
  2. Thanks for all of the responses everyone
  3. For those of you in the non-hollow point friendly states, what type of ammo do you keep for self-defense/home protection. I am not looking for a discussion on "well hollow point are not illegal, you can have them in the home and take direct to range ... " or "i'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 ..." I am just looking for those of you who use an alternative to Hollow Point for self-defense / home protection. I am looking for 9mm
  4. I use a small sling bag I picked up from Cabela's a year or 2 ago. It's small so I use it for pond hopping when I am only travelling light. Comes with 2 small plano boxes, I use one to hold lures, spinners etc. and the other holds rubber lures, hooks, weights. It has a small outside pocket on it as well. My only complaint with it is that the zipper on the main compartment and the zipper on the small pouch don't face the same way, so when I swing the bag from my back to my chest the main compartment faces up (which it should) but the small faces down, so if you open it the contents can fall out, overall nice comfortable design besides that one dumbass move with the zipper. They also make a large backpack version if you are looking for something to carry a decent amount of gear.
  5. I have used the life straw while on fly in trips to Canada. the thing is great, I always bring a bottle of water out on the water regardless but If drink it all then i use the life straw. I've sucked the H20 straight from the lake with it. Campingsurvival dot com has them for $19.99 with free shipping
  6. I accidentally posted this in the bottom fishing forum first. I am going to be in San Diego for a few days around the last weekend of June to visit family. I am looking to go out on a charter/party boat. I am not sure what is around that time, I've just started to research, but I am hoping to go after yellow tail (not sure they are around then). Anybody from the area have any suggestions for some boats you may have gone out on? and what species are around then? I have to mention i am not looking into doing a private charter, I may end up going out by myself for the trip so i am not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on this, I may also be limited to just getting out for the morning (though i would prefer to do a 3/4 day trip in the area) - let me know your suggestions
  7. thanks John OOPS just realized I posted this in the bottom fishing forum instead of the west coast forum accidentally - can a Mod please move this to the West Coast forum?

  9. I bought an SR22 a few months ago.... Love it. Tons of fun to shoot
  10. That stinks, I've thought for awhile they should have dredged it. I know they did sections of it a few years ago but all they did was remove piles of nice rock structure in a few sections which killed those areas from holding fish. The poa has never seemed to be big on helping the fishing quality, tthey have always been content with just stocking the trout in the Spring, the lake has lucked out with pretty good fishing just bc of the lack of pressure. It's been that way since I was growing up there as a kid. I'm trying to convince the wife to buy a house in Geoff Ts neighborhood ...
  11. Lucky , that really sucks, I haven't joined in a few years but was going to this year, maybe I won't
  12. That's it! Thanks bat guano
  13. They are a Czech Republic company
  14. Jmlandru, I just bought my first handgun this fall and like you I decided on a 9mm. Similar situation, me and wife and no kids (at the moment). I shot about a dozen or so different 9mm handguns before I made my decision. I shot all the norms, glock, sig, smith and wesson, beretta etc... The gun I decided on was the cz 75b ... If it's not on your radar I would highly recommend looking at it. I have been shooting every week or every other since I picked it up about 4 months ago. I often shoot with other people and we take some shots with each other's weapons each time, every time I shoot another handgun It just reinforces that I made the right decision, everyone who shoots it really likes it too. I have over 1000 rounds through it of all different types of ammo and have had no issues. It's all metal so it's heavy, but it has minimal recoil compared to other 9mm and it is very accurate. To reiterate, I am a novice to handguns but I was in the same spot you are a few months ago so I figured I would give you my experience and decision.
  15. Thanks mikes but those aren't it. He was going over small bedside type safes
