  1. My guess is that they'll show up for a 3 or 4 day window, then vanish. If you're waiting for reports to tell you when to go out to get them, you've probably already missed them. My go to date to start looking for them is April 15th or so. Depending on the weather...
  2. Anyone been out front since the storm? I wonder how much of the newly replenished beach got washed away LOL.
  3. Yeah, but definitely not more than once or twice a month. I've caught some MONSTER white perch from the Hackensack, but I wouldn't eat them unless I was starving to death lol. Gotta be full of everything they dumped into that river. I see people keeping crabs from there, disgusting.
  4. I'll wait for fluke if I want fish. Stripers aren't that good, to me anyway. Only bass I've kept in decades were ones that clearly weren't going to survive.
  5. I'm also in the "my father took me whiting fishing on Long Branch Pier" club as well.
  6. Not a bad decision with the price of bloods these days LOL.
  7. They arent even done ruining Monmouth beach and it's already washing out. Look at this LOL:
  8. Try for shallow mud flats in the bay, outgoing tides in the afternoon. Warmer water. Season in the bays/rivers opens March 1st. Use bloodworms if you can afford them, they're stupidly expensive now. I've done well with bunker chunks early, only because I refuse to pay 25 bucks a dozen for worms. If using lures, work them slow until the water warms up.
  9. Awful. That area was just getting back to semi-normal, and those imbeciles bury everything again. This state sucks, man. If I didn't have access to the navy pier in the bay, I'd probably sell all my gear and stick to freshwater.
  10. Nothing like catching smallies in a river. Plus they taste 1000x better than stripers.
  11. LOL imagine doing a 3.2 million dollar examination of this, when you can see what the hell happens after the 1st NE storm of the season. Just shoveling our money into the ocean, almost literally.
  12. I like otter tails. Nice action and I've never had anything rip them off the bucktail or bite through it. One tip: Dont use the premade hole, I did when I first started using them and I lost some. Just make your own hole with the hook and the thing will never come off.
  13. Just gonna agree to disagree on this point.
  14. Nothing wrong with up to date reports. A lot of people don't have the time to go fishing 3 or 4 times a week. As long as people aren't burning specific spots, I think it's fine. Besides, this is one of the only sites that forbids spot burning. Go find any tackle shop on social media, or join a fishing group, and they're giving out GPS coordinates lol.
  15. That's the one. I figured it's a fake, cause if a bear was spotted at the hook it'd be on the news. Never know, though.
  16. Anyone see any news of a black bear at Sandy Hook? I saw a picture on a social media site, dunno if it's true or not lol.
  17. 17lb blue weighed in today, off a boat though. Wish the blues would make a comeback.
  18. Tried out back MoCo. Skunk. Threw the bag and soaked clams and bunker. Only 1 small skate to show for it. Beautiful night, though.
  19. I took a ride out yesterday morning. Looked like Pulaski at the parking lots at the hook lol.
  20. Anyone have a water report for the bays/out back? Still a mess?
  21. Think so. Soon we'll be targeting tarpon from the beaches.
  22. Not remotely worth the confrontation. Call the tip line and be done with it.
  23. I never say a word to people I see doing stuff like that, these days it could get you shot or stabbed. I just walk away and call the tip line to report them. Whether anything gets done, I can't help that. Can only point the wardens in the right direction.
