  2. Turns out I have a 712. Sorry. Good luck with your search.

  6. Drilling a 710 spool on a drill press using a machine I don't know the name of. Seems like some kind of turntable:
  7. I still want to carry a wallet for ID. Quote: Originally Posted by CHIEF500 Regular old put in the lock key to my vehicle goes with me. Everything else is locked in my vehicle.
  8. Wallet, phone, camera, everything goes in its own ziplock.
  9. Doesn't seem possible to directly upload. I can get it to choose a photo using iCab but it still won't upload.
  10. The Daiwa Saltist 5000H will fit right in your target range.

Why not 12-15lb braid with a mono shock leader? Less stretch and more capacity. Is it just a price issue?

Most conventional surfcasters I read here use mag controlled reels or just thumbs. I've never tried a mag. The Shimano uses adjustable centrifugal control. Otherwise, it's a good reel. Drag is really smooth. Maxes out about 9lbs.
  14. I use it with a Shimano TN14 with braid. Probably not ideal but that's what I have so it's what I use. I find 8 and bait just about right.
