  1. Any reviews of these blanks? Specifically this model F904-4-MHX? Thanks, Tim
  2. Haha. I just read and took your advise since you clearly know what you're doing. I don't know if you remember but you and Herb were a huge help to me building my first rod a couple years back. I quickly learned that when you two give advice I'd best listen! I'm using this for my next rod. Thanks for the tip Mike!
  3. That's an interesting idea. Sounds easy. Are you worried about over heating the blank?
  4. Well I'm just about out of flex coat so it may be time for a change. I also have a dog with access to the basement so investing in a dry box of some sort may not be a bad idea if the aftcote/threadmaster epoxy takes a while to dry. How long do you usually let the aftcote/threadmaster mix dry for? Also, while I'm at it, might as well as about reel seat/cork grip epoxy. I've been using flex coat for that as well. Any preferences? Thanks again for all the tips,
  5. hmm, so maybe the bubbles weren't from dust. One difference this last rod had versus the other rods, was that this time I made one large batch of epoxy and as I reached the end it was getting pretty thick and tough to work with where as the other rods I did half the rod and then mixed a new batch of epoxy and did the other half (this was simply out of necessity but because I was running out of epoxy.) You think working with thicker epoxy is the culprit?
  6. Hello, I haven't been using a drying box for my rods and I'm thinking about building one. Currently, I am drying in my basement with a small furnace at full blast so it's nice and warm, but I noticed a lot of bubbles in my last finish which I'm assuming was caused by dust. Obviously a box will help keep the dust at bay, but I'm wondering if I need to go all out and build a nice one with a heating/ fan system or will duct taping cardboard boxes together work just fine? Thanks Tim
  7. Anyone got one lying around and willing to part with it? Let me know. Thanks! Tim
  8. Oh it was the same brand. Cool. That's good to know. Thanks! Tim
  9. I'm fishing bass and steelhead with this rod, so two very different styles. A skagit style floating line sounds awesome for surface bass. You think adding a sink tip to the Chucker would allow me effectively nymph for steelhead?
  10. Anyone try these? Thoughts? *link removed
  11. I think I'll give them a call and see what they're all about. You're right, $30 won't hurt the bank much.
