  1. Marlin 1895SS 45-70. Very clean, low round count Smooth feed/eject. 22in bbl, 4rd magazine. Serial # 1990 Marlin manufacture. I added Skinner Express rear sight, red fiber optic front...fitted a large loop lever from Jard. Original sights and small loop included. Couple boxes once fired Hornady brass and following ammo: 5 box Hornady 325gn Leverevolution, 3 box 405gn JSP, 1box Buffalo Bore 300gn JFN FTF at my local shop Smithtown...$1500/OBO
  2. Heavy by todays standard but quality build with an excellent drag...I'd call it a score !
  3. No the insert should not spin. Single guide replacement is pretty straightforward but since it's fairly new I'd contact Scott first and see how they want to handle it...
  4. Burnt cork rings come in some pretty dark shades. Just picked up a set of KW's for a winter build, gunsmoke gray frames/sic inserts. Not black but I'm going the same look as you and I like em, close enough.
  5. Found 3 more boxes of ammo, another 325 Hornady and 2 Winchester 300gn JHP, all included.
  6. The right 11footer will get you a bit more than a 10. What reel and line are you using, a long cast spool reel and a 10lb reduction in lb test braid could very well get you more extra distance than a new rod.
  7. VR150 would be a nice fit on either a 9 or 10 footer...
  8. Cohen would've paid him, just wouldn't commit to a 5yr deal given his age and injury history, smart move on his part. Sad it's not a sport anymore, grew up in Flushing, been a Met fan all my life. I have zero expectations so never get too choked up about any pro sports game. Most pro athletes have no integrity and no class anymore. DeGrom could've stayed, F him is right....
  9. I'm sure bass also use their lateral line to hunt artificials....large swimming plugs and such. To what degree a fly or flyline equates, no idea....some, how much is the question.
  10. Yep, market as only for the best of casters...won't be able to keep them on the shelves
  11. Sale of lead wheel weights has been outlawed in NY for years, all tin now. Still some old stock around but dwindling. I agree the bucktails will be useless.
  12. Thanks for the heads up....
  13. Did you grab it on sale for $99...if so you did good
  14. It's a rebranded Okuma Rockaway surf rod, they sell for about half of that $250.... that said not a bad rod at all for 99 bucks
  15. What a great way to spend Thanksgiving...outdoors, three generations of family and friends, good for you !
  16. Not knocking the gun at all, got a few myself, just saying they're nothing to look at, and too many guys do the plug and play parts swap and call em custom builds...nothing custom about it and every oem part removed usually detracts from the reliability that made them so attractive in the first place. Nobody buys a Glock cause it looks sexy, at least nobody that intends on using it for serious work.

  18. Built one of the sale blanks last season...LMX FAF908. Nice for the price, good ferrule fits, reminds me of the GL3 or first GLX. Throws a true 8wt plus 1/2 line up, more than that not ideal, for the price very nice.
  19. Take a look at Tristar lineup, some of the newer stuff from Turkey offers alot of bang for the buck. Buddy bought one, think it's a Viper...nice fit/finish , screw in chokes, he's run it hard and likes it
  20. Exactly...not to mention Glocks are so ugly whatever you throw at em it's still just a pig with a dress on...
  21. A good roof rack properly secured to the truck will have zero issues at any speed or for any lengthy trip....
  22. I'd take the 350gn you currently own and cast it with his 10wt for awhile and decide if it would benefit from the heavier line.
  23. Got into a few shorts early, false dawn the bite shut down. Birds working actively all morning but couldn't reach em at any time. 4hrs later without another touch I called it quits when the only life showing were the 2 seals shadowing my every cast.
  24. Google shotshell cards, use them to customize any pouch you desire. The 6 shell holder fits perfectly in the Tactical Anglers pouch, 6 bucktails neatly arranged in order, room for a couple more or loose shads without crowding. Front pocket holds a small fly box filler with teasers and a few pre tied dropper leaders. If I'm not fishing teasers the front pocket gets a bag full of grubs or curlytails. All in $25....carries all you need for a full tide. Not paying $100 for a pouch, then overstuffing it to the point I have to cinch my belt so tight that it cuts off circulation to my legs when hiking the beach. , Certain days it's all I carry, plug bag stays in the truck. Pleasure to walk, cast, travel light.
  25. Where you located. Thinning the herd and my 1895ss is probably going, along wiith 10 or so boxes of ammo...some buffalo bore, hornady leverlutions, winchester.
