  1. I would be launching in Port Monmouth
  2. Anyone planning on taking the yak out this Saturday? I'm thinking of driving down in the dark and heading out at first light. The blues still thick in there?
  3. I'm looking for information on fishing out of Charleston, SC, I'm going there in Mid June and am thinking of taking a charter while I'm there. In-shore stuff. What's in season that time of year? Can anyone recommend a boat/captain? Thanks:D
  4. You can fish the town beaches with bait and not P.O. anybody. Behind Sloppy Tuna for starters, also ditch plains but you need a parking permit for there. The point / lighthouse area is the hot spot but don't try to fish there without korkers - with one exception: The only place I would recommend fishing safely without korkers near the point is turtle cove, but if you go down there and drown bait you may get some looks. By all means you should definitely go down to the point and look around and watch others. Walk down to the beach and see how people are fishing and how they are dealing with the terrain. This way you can go prepared for next time! It's beautiful there.
  5. Thanks everyone. I ended up sanding it down with 1500 and then 2000 wet and its smooth as glass now (well except for a few spots, but they certainly aren't sharp edged any more). I appreciate all the input!
  6. I just noticed that the spool on my Stradic 5k has some nicks in the lip where the line comes off as you can see in the pic below. They are deep enough that my fingernail catches in some of them if I drag my nail over them. I am about to spool this thing up because I need this reel for this weekend, and I don't want to ruin brand new line on these nicks. Shimano is out of spool assemblies so rush ordering a replacement is not an option. Anyone have any temporary fixes I could try to implement to protect myself against abrasion / break offs for this coming weekend? I will ultimately get a replacement spool assembly but I HAVE to get through this weekend!!
  7. It was the link to the original report yeah..maybe someone could copy/paste it into this thread..im on my phone and its a pita.
  8. Nevermind I can't post the link.
  9. I just got here to a resort in Papagayo Bay. I am looking to do a fishing charter while I am here with my wife and have been doing some research here in the internet cafe, but it is a bit overwhelming. They have a tour company here at the resort that offers fishing charters, so I put my name in their queue to see if another couple would be interested in splitting with us. However, there is very limited information on the boats / captains, so I don't know their reputations and if I will be getting my money's worth! The same is true for all the charter information I have been reading online. It is hard to know who the good captains and boats are and if these companies are reputable. There are also boats that solicit right on the beach in front of the resort. So yeah, I am a bit overwhelmed. Has anyone taken fishing trips out of this area before? Can anyone recommend a boat? I am looking to do an offshore full day trip. Thanks in advance. -Steve
  10. I'm takin a page from R111 book. I'll be down in PM area at the ass crack to launch and do a few hours of fishin and then head home. Anyone else gonna be there? My usual fishing partner can't make it and I am a little weary about going out alone as this is my first year in the yak. If u wanna buddy up PM me!
  11. Careful out there, Sunday's marine forecast looks a little scary!
  12. I'll be out there but I'm launching from the other side.
  13. What do I do instead of a dry bag? (Which proved not to be very dry anyway...)
  14. Hahahaha...I like the glass is half full perspective. I mounted a scotty a little behind the seat, on the port side. I don't love it there but like you implied, there aren't a lot of options.
