  1. Thanks to all of you for your replies. Got some relay good tips
  2. Not necessarily . I do like the st croix tidemaster I have but am open to all. So you all know I have about ten fishing rods from an ugly stick to a gloomis to a custom made JPR rod. I am looking for a good quality rod that will preform.
  3. So i get the throwing plugs and bucktails and needing a lighter rod for that. my question is when you go to the ocean (beach) plop down a chair and throw a line in the water, what can I expect to throw? meaning a 3 or 4 oz sinker with some squid or more like 5 to 6 oz with a chunk of bunker? And with that would the 3/4- 4 mojo work or would i do better with a 2-6 mojo saying in a 10-6 length?
  4. i am kind of leaning toward the mojo but how about for a little more money? Any other brands out there to consider? what about length? i am guessing a 10-6 will throw it a little farther?or is it preference. i would kinda like to get it narrowed down before i start putting my hands on them
  5. I was thinking mojo. Was wonder what weight? 2-6 or 3/4-4? Gonna use it for stripers and flounder but really wherever is out there
  6. I am looking at getting my first surf rod. I am looking to spend around 200 dollars on it more or less. I want to try and get a rod for both bait and plugs . Any recomendations for lenth and weight would help. I like St croix rods and lamiglas but not limited to theses brands. I will be fishing inlets and up in the bay. Thanks for the help.
  7. For what it's worth, I have an avet sx and it is bulletproof. This is my 4 year of having it with not one problem. I mostly use it for bottom fishing.

  11. Hate to hijack but I m looking at these rods as well. Are they lure rods or can you use them for bait as well? New to surf and looking for a starter rod
  12. Ya I use 6 and 8 oz bucktails for Flukin. I try to bend them down yo about 4/0 size. The mustad hooks I didn't have a problem with weakening it. I did how ever with store bought bucktails.
