I've had the x2 200 w/power knob for a year and half now and love it.  Gets dunked and in the sand still flawless.  My only thing is when I cast sometimes the line pick up swings around and grabs the line.  It's most likely operator error.  But other than that, smoothness of the drag, power and torque.. love it. Thinking adding a 150 to the lineup

I have this issue also on occasion. Not sure it's operator error though. I rarely had this issue on my previous vsx but I guess the smoothness of the X2 maybe comes at this price. Dosen't happen too often though.

When Century first got on the boards I bought a couple of "factory custom" Sling Shot rods. The guy repping them was Mike K. in NJ I think. I guessed that he was also wrapping them but never asked. Ended up with 3, sold one and loved all of them. It ended up being Advanced Fishing / Ryan down south. Not sure who does any current wraps but the blanks have always been light and powerful although with the current prices I gave up. $800 for  a SW beach rod is really stiff, although some of there new stuff and the tech going into it is amazing. The fly guys get away with those prices so go figure.

Century has a solid reputation. My issue was with the 2 specific rods I had my hands on. They were just janky builds.

It’s not gonna be quick but Zack (@ Zack’s custom rods) builds on Century blanks. He can get you exactly what you are looking for. I’ve got quite a few of his rods and they’re perfect, including one built on a Century blank.

Problem one for me today was that I was looking for quick but I'm going to have to go the custom route.

Those things are completely unacceptable.  I don't deal with any "factory build " rods. I strictly custom build every rod in my shop for each individual customer.

That being said there is such a thing as human error and mistakes can slip by even the keenest eye. He did the right thing by returning both rods.

Returing that SME was probably the hardest thing I ever had to do lol. I will definitely be looking to have a rod built on that blank in the near future.
