  1. Recently I've been doing a little reading about rod building. Never built a rod before. I couldn't help noticing Lamiglas gives you a guide size and spacing for their blanks. With the new guide concept system isn't that determined by spool diameter and location of the reel itself? Spool diameter x 27 = location If my reel is at 28 from the butt wouldn't the choker guide be different if it was 24 from the butt?
  2. I use playing cards folded over. Apply epoxy and before putting the plug on the rack I slide the card through the slot from one side to the other. Put it on the rack and forget about it. Never had an issue. This way I don't have to remember to come back and take it out before the epoxy cures it in place.
  3. That's what I plan on doing, learning it myself. I found it interesting that they give exact numbers when there are so many other variables. Maybe they should give approximate locations? Anyway, that doesn't matter. I will take your advice and start by choosing a blank and reel for the type of fishing I plan on doing and go from there. Thanks!
  4. I cant say I've had an issue with black, pearl white and fluorescent colors, yes. Usually only the first coat then the second covers and lays flat.

  12. @DeepBlue85 you mention alcohol, have you thought about wet sanding with water instead? This would keep dust down. @Steel Pulse @Wire For Fire how are are you cleaning your plugs after sanding and before primer?

  21. A "good" glider does not need anything more than a straight retrieve to glide in the seductive S pattern that they're known for. However, a quick twitch, a little pump, or changing your retrieve speed to impart a different action is OK. Just remember to take up the slack you've just introduced to get the glider to glide again. During a steady retrieve, if your glider does not glide, it's a stickbait, and you must impart action on the retrieve. Thank you all for the kind words (RG Lures)
