  1. Just read the last response properly, pinto pony, I like that, too many westerns. In regards to the chinese hsn, I will never lay hands on a chinese made abu overhead, just me. Anyway I have gone to some length to convert my current reel to a ct and am very happy with it except for no anti reverse. On top of that I got the reel for only AU$150 new to begin with, which used to be about $3 US.
  2. sorry, my reel is a TC7000C3N. Foot No.16011726. So there is no abu item to fit for iar? Thanks everyone for your replies for help. Jeremy.
  3. I am surprised, I have not had a reply. Is nobody interested in how things are done down under??
  4. I have just converted my TC7000C3N to a ct and loaded it with finns 30lb braid. Took it out the other day and it casts like a dream. Wondering if anyone else has tried this combination. Also, can this reel be modified to have instant anti reverse? Jeremy.
  5. I tried this to some degree and decided to stop as I was applying quite a lot of pressure. However maybe it wasn't even pressure. I'll try again with something to hang on to. Thanks for your reply.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to remove it without damage so if I want to but it back later, I can. From what I can tell some replace it by adding a circlip. Is this right? Is there a grove in the top of the shaft to retain a small circlip?
  7. I have an abu 7000n and want to remove the idler gear in the left sideplate. I read a post about threading some heavy line around it and pulling it off, but this technique doesn't seem to be workking for me. Should it just pop off? I don't want to apply too much force. Any help would be much appreciated. By the way, I have been enjoying reading many of the threads regarding abus and distance casting. Even though you guys are on the other side of the globe and have different fish species to target, the same theories apply. And I find some of your takes on things interesting. Thanks. Jeremy.
  8. I am about to convert my 7000n to a ct and was wondering how yours casted in the end. I was fortunate enough to find a good ct cage on ebay. Also, how difficult was it to remove the idler gear in the sideplate and how did you go about it? I'm having a bit of trouble with mine. My 7000 is a slightly different model to yours though, I think it's a Japanese market model which popped up in a store here in Australia. Thanks. Jeremy. ps I like the bic idea.
  9. Does anyone know how to remove the idler cog from the sideplate of a 7000? Do these just click off or do you have to remove some plastic? I had a go at it by threading some heavy fishing line either side of it and with some force, I had no luck. I have a late 7000 if it means anything (TC7000 c3 n) and I'm putting a ct cage on it so I want to remove the idler. Thanks. Jeremy.
