  1. I know about the launches in yarmouth and I know about pleasant bay. I guess I guess I have some ideas. I am more curious about town policies. Some are going with the state and others are on their own. How about if folks have knowledge of a town that is ok just say the town. I’ll find the launch as I know the Cape well and probably know where all the launches are.
  2. So sorry. If you read the thread, I started it because I was looking for suggestions of places I could launch. I don’t know what places are following the state rules, and what places I could try that either don’t have attendants or are using town rules instead. I even inquired about Yarmouth and Smugglers beach on the bass river. You’ve been remarkably helpful with your smart ass comment.
  3. I guess it just goes to show once again that recreational anglers are not as important as commercial ones. We need to lobby the state too. Makes no sense that I can’t go out alone but the state has no problem with me going out with 9 strangers that could cause an out break. I would think there is some financial impact. We pay launch fees, we buy bait and gas, we buy tackle and oil etc. We bought our boat from Nauset Marine in Orleans. We need to get our water pump, thermostat and a few other things including some trailer maintenance done. We need some new boat equipment. We were planning that it would cost approximately $2,000 this year for basic maintenance. By my guess adding all that up we are talking $4-5,000 into the cape cod economy in the next two months if we can use our boat. Seems like a pretty substantial financial impact to me. I don’t think “just launching” is an option at the launches we go to. It’s a little more hard core out on the cape where many of the ramps are run by some very serious harbormasters that most likely spent a good deal of time as either coast guard or commercial fisherman. It’s not terribly unusual to run into environmental police when you are launching out of ramps where commercial guys are bringing in tuna etc.
  4. What about the enormous number of out of state 2nd homeowner tax payers?
  5. https://www.mass.gov/doc/for-hire-and-charter-fishing-application-of-guidelines-5-18-20/download yup. No restriction on out of state customers on charter boats. And that is why I am so pissed that I can’t launch my own boat.
  6. I’m pretty sure he ramp is under construction. Hard place to deal with for tides and parking. Wondering about Yarmouth and Smugglers. Anyone know if Yarmouth is open for out of state tow vehicles? Bass River launches are interesting with the current but we’ve used them before.
  7. Yup. Just called SAQ and it’s off limits to out of state plates. So is Sesuit. So for all you boaters out there without Ma plates you are SOL. Might want to start calling the governors office and asking why you can pay to go out on a strangers boat but you can’t take your own out.
  8. In a post today I provided links to the Dennis Harbormasters site and the Harwich harbormasters site. I hope you are right but then these towns have info they have posted on their own sites that is wrong. The State said town ramps can do what they want but it look like these towns have decided to follow the state’s lead.
  9. Oh good. So I could go breathe hard inside with a bunch of strangers but I can’t sit in the middle of Nantucket sound by myself I think this makes it pretty clear that your tow vehicle has to be registered in MA. https://www.town.dennis.ma.us/sites/dennisma/files/uploads/coastal_boatramps.pdf Here is the governors announcement on the Harwich harbormasters site https://www.harwich-ma.gov/sites/harwichma/files/uploads/boating_guidance_final_4.27.20.pdf
  10. Yeah. In the winter we live in Vermont 4-5 days a week. We got hosed there too.
  11. Sneaky way of keeping the parking spots to themselves.
  12. Brewster (our town) has no salt water ramps. Dennis and Harwich are not letting out of state plates launch. We keep our CT plates because we don’t live in Ma 6 months a year. We pay the humongous car property taxes in CT because we won’t lie and say we live in Ma more than 6 months a year. We are law abiding citizens.
