Well guys.... at this point in my life my priorities have changed... The only car that my girlfriend and I share needs a new motor. We honestly got hosed at Freeman Motors. 4 months after we bought it the timing chain went and bent all kinds of crap. Long story short it would be cheaper to buy a new motor. No warranty. So I have a 10,000 paper weight. I go to school 15 miles out of town. I need something fast. So I'm going to part with my project Hobie. I need to sell it fast but I would still like to get something for it. $1200 Thats the amount I need, along with what I have saved to get this thing running again. You all know the potential of these boats so please pass the word along... I would be happy to answer any question... my email is tcufrog21@aim.com or just post here. remember this is a project. thanks everybody... im going to wait a few days before I post on CL Will

haha Sandy you should have seen th 5hp trying to push mine. I bought it so i could just get my boat in the water to see if it floats... and at a soundbraking speed of 5 mph its not very fun.. but yes it floats... It has been sitting in my garage since july... it kills me not to be able to take it out..

did they make a 13' hobie? There is one listed in LI on craig at 13' w/ 40 hp I wana say they did. I read it somwhere on the web.

its on floridas east coast right smack in the middle, about 70 miles south of Daytona I think... Vero Beach, Fl is the town

guys i think im losing my drive for finishing this boat.. thinking of selling
-
Hey steve im feeling the same thing,, but nothing new is going on with me. I take it out a few times last month. You know one thing I reaaaallllyy dont like how unstable the boat is when i try to walk from the stern to bow. I really am thinking of not finishing the boat and just have it as a overweight underpowerd jon boat... I have school full time next week and its just going to be sitting in my garage.

85-- semi dried foam. I jigsawed out a hatch in the back thinking i could have extra storage. but nope just foam.. Every skiff that I have seen around my year has had foam.. I have seen the newer models built under a new company without foam... It might have just been a year model...

how handy are you with light fiberglassing. take a jigsaw and run a 2 inch strip from your center console deck plate back to your transome. besure to cut at a inward angle.. i dont know if that makes sence. so when you lay it back down it dosent just fall straight down. anyway you'll see tons of foam i just roueted it all out deep enough for 2 1inch pvc pipes to lay on top of each other a couple of 90 degree elbows to bring them back to the deck. lay your strip back on just simple glass over then paint. back to new?? again just a suggestion.

Wow steve sounds like you have a ton of water in your boat. I guess my situation wasnt that bad in the first place. I could suggest taking a long paddle bit, I think I saw a bit that electricians use to drill down the side of a wall like 4 feet long. and punch it right threw your bottom plug up at a slight anglel as far as you can go, kinda making a canal for any water that wants to escape. I did this with mine. becarefull not to hit any plumbing. I had to fish around with my finger any loose foam that might have been blocking the plug hole. Just a thought... hope you dry out

Since i'm saving for a "real" motor I found a 5hp kicker for a 100 bucks.. had a problem getting more thrust. Found that it was the prop. a guy on another website said 99% of the time thats what it is. SO i bought a high thrust low pitch prop. its like night and day.. You would not believe that its only a 5 hp. Had a problem with my jack today.. It wouldnt go down. It was fine yesterday. I had great plans to go out on the river today and I couldnt jack it down I tried everything I could. I think its just time for a new one.. its about 20 years old. It was so exciting getting this thing in the water.. Its been sitting in my driveway since JANUARY while i worked on it.. I didnt care if it only went 7 MPH I was just thrilled that i floated. Me my older sister and two 10 year olds scooted along fine with the busted prop. Still havent made it out alone with the new one...

tilt your boat up on a 45 degree angle, like put the jack on the back of your tailgate and jack it up all the way. remove your drain plug.leave it for a few days. I did this with mine and i filled up about a gallon in a half. Not much but at least it will dry out faster now. and you should have pvc pipes on your starboard side. reach in your front hatch and feel around.

Lucky, looks like your having a good time. now If I can only find a motor i could be out there too. Well i dont know about 6 inches of water but you get what im saying SO today I went to home depot and bought a 16 foot dowel and spiral wraped it with fiberglass. Have some pvc elbows and end caps. Now I have me a SWEET push pole for 40 bucks. No motor but I can push my ass around!!!! post pictures tomorrow
