JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE IS FISHING STATEN ISLAND, (STRANDED ISLAND - AS I CALL IT)......I HAVE BEEN FISHING THE BEACHES FROM THE VERRAZZANO TO THE OUTERBRIDGE ALMOST EVERYDAY SINCE SEPTEMBER..... BAIT. - PLUGS. - PLASTICS HAVE RESULTED IN SKUNK-A-ROO. NO WEAKFISH, NO BLUES AND ESPECIALLY NO BASS...... IS THIS JUST AN OFF YEAR OR WHAT? ? ?

I WOULD APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR EXPERT IDEAS AND OPINIONS ON APPROPRIATE COMPONENTS TO COMPLETE THIS ROD THAT I WOULD LOVE TO HAND DOWN TO MY GRANDSON. I USED TO BUILD RODS BACKIN THE 70'S SO I AM NOT COMPLETELY A NEWBIE WHEN IT COMES TO ROD BUILDING.... IT WAS UTTERLY RIDICULOUS THE OTHER NIGHT GETTING SLAMMED BY GORILLA BLUES IN THE 15 + POUND RANGE AND THEN LOSE THE FISH AND AT TIMES OUR TERMINAL TACKLETRYING TO HOIST THESE MONSTERS OVER THE RAIL BY HAND.
