  1. I pier fish on the northern gulf coast. The water here is so clear you can see the Pompano schools swimming on the sand bar. This picture is an 8ft Hammerhead in about 10 ft of water.
  2. Thanks. Yeah Pompano are great eating and real sporty on light tackle.
  3. I used to use an old 720z for Pompano jigging.
  4. Conquer 2500 sight fishing Pompano. Panama City Beach Fl.
  5. A friend of mine bought this 707z new in the early 90s. It came with a gold spool and coffee grinder handle.
  6. I use 20 lb Power Pro on my 201b and my TE 201 and it works great. I do the same type fishing you are planning to do.
  7. Sweetest sound in the world is a 706 line roller screaming as a King Mackeral hits high gear after a hook up (100 to 150 yrds) !!!!
  8. Doesn't balance only last till you tie on a lure or weight ?
  9. Use heavier leader than main line . I use 27lb Sevenstrand (non-coated) and 15lb Ande Backcountry mono on spinning tackle (Penn 706) with no problems. I use the same setup on my Calcutta TE 401 also. IMHO Braid causes more problems than it's worth King fishing.
  10. I love my POS 706s.............King Mackeral and Cobia hate'm !!! I/AR might be nice but not really needed. Different colored anodized versions would be cool. [img=
  11. Beach Re-Nourishment = Habitat Destruction!!!!!
  12. "I'm right handed but all my reels - spinning and convench are cranked with my left hand, it's much easier to fight a fish with my dominant hand not to mention plugging. How do you plug with a convench reel using your weaker hand jigging the rod?" Fi**** 2 I agree .....I love my Penn 706s and my left hand crank Calcuttas !!!
  13. Along the Panhandle of Fl coast the 706 is a work horse reel for King Mackeral and Cobia pier fishing. Simple but tuff reels !!!
