  1. I tend to agree with Feet, Ive been a "member" since 2002 and have only posted when i could contribute something, so I only have 105 posts. By your rules i could start selling when its 2007. Yet on ebay I have 100% positive feedbacks and almost 300 of them. I didnt vote for your pole either, its silly and not really worth a look. its simple, buy from who you trust and ask ALOT of questions.
  2. After ya break it in half, ship it to me so I can make it into a 4 foot rod for my 2 yr old. he will be the youngest kid on his block to own a Lami. Dave, got one from a sporting goods shop here in snj for 125, no shipping, am very happy with it. its got alot of backbone for them deapwater fish. Now as long as the wife doesnt find the reciept i'll be in good shape
  3. We also fished the tourney out of Delaware bay on the Barely Awake. Didnt start out well as I went to the boat on Friday to do last minute stuff. Found my boat raped by some poor excuses for human beings. Ripped my teak wood door off its hasp and stole my 8 best rods and reel and the tackle box. Lost 4 penn 965s and 3 other penn outfits in the lot. To top it off my boat is located just 120 yards from the Port Norris branch of the state police. seems I was the fourth boat tho be hit in the past week or so. Did some repairs and filed a report and headed for the sporting goods store. didnt find anything I was in love with so I just got some stealth and relined 2 old rods my dad gave me. Told the rest of the crew to bring what they had in tackle and we would make do. We had a decent bite but couldnt find any pattern of good fish. Ended up with 10 keeper fluke to 3 pound 14 ounces, and 18 snapper blues. I kinda think we wound have found some better action if the blues werent destroying anything we put down there for bait. Seemed like you needed at least 4 pounds to place with a 6 plus pounder in first when we left the weigh in station. I guess I cant complain too much, the pieces of cow dung who robbed me didnt have enough sence to take the 500 dollar gps/plotter or the 400 dollar fish finder, so it wasnt totally crushing. Dont expect many of you to be from that area but if anyone comes across a 965 on a basspro IM8 rod, or a Cabelas Rod, report em to the state police for me. Maybe we'll see some of you at the awards ceremony, sure could hurt to win the boat after all this.
  4. Just submitting one more vote for disks. they can sit all summer and then when you go to use them, they clean off the rotors themselves and stopping power is superior to drums, I think. anyway just 1 more opinion for ya.
  5. Just an FYI, you can rent them at depot with the plank for like 25 a day , jacks by themselves were 15 i believe, I did a roof, never again, but i did a roof and they worked well for me.
  6. You can also donate them to the local area fund for abused women. They rehab them and then pass them out to help protect them from future harm.
  7. Why can't you just float it off into the nearest lake and get a snorkle, you can wet sand it to your hearts content. Seriously, tie it to a tree, pull it 3 feet off the trailer and continue with the person and the jack on the center of the keel. I saw a nice setup from one of the haulers trailers. he had a winch on the bottom of the trailer that ran to the back of the trailer and then to the front so it PULL the boat off the trailer for you. No tree needed for that one
  8. I beg to differ, you have to pay for a boat license at the DMV in New Jersey. I believe its 12 more dollars the state takes from us in the form of a fee. You dont have to take a test, just give them money. Now personal water craft are a different story.
  9. Woodskiff, yea the blazer has a 195 hp v6 and its plenty. My brother has an 01 ford explorer and he tells me the Small v8 is only 205 hp. Also, yea brakes are always better than no brakes, but if the state doesnt think you need em under 3000 pounds then its a safe bet that they arent a necessity. To retrofit a trailer you can do it yourself from about 400 dollars. I just think its as important to drive safely when trailering not like some of these yahoos trailering at 75 mph in the left lane . All the brakes in the world wont save them at that speed. Again just my opinion, I'll be happy to stop and dial 911 for the yahoos' ambulance every time. Just tragic when you think about it
  10. Hey gys, Not trying to be a rebel here. Afterall everyone can have a valid opinion. But speaking as an owner of a 96, 98, and 02 blazer, I can state the following. The Blazer's 4 wheel ABS Disk brakes stop the thing like its on glue. There is a 4 yr old who is alive only because of those brakes. Ran right out in front of me. Furthermore, I not only to a 21 foot walk around, but I also tow a 21 foot travel trailer Both over 3500 pounds and the trucks have been nothing but strong with them. Yes the trans cooler is a very good idea if you intend to drive in heavy traffic or with a lead foot. The brakes are on both my trailers, but even when I towed the boat without brakes it is easily controlled with the truck. Only reason for so many blazers was I use to travel for work so I had 35k a yr on them and wanted to trade up while they still had value. Nw I have a company car so Blazer only sees like 15k a yr now. 31k on it now with orignial brakes and 70% still left on them. But again how you drive decides brake wear more than anything else. Good luck and if you need a hitch let me know, I have a spare class 3 you could have for next to nothing.
  11. I might be able to somewhat answer you. It sounds like your sepaking of the power tilt and trim unit. My father, a retired Machinist, had a simliar problem with an evinrude unit. He did get a seal kit for the unit. The problem is the tools needed to open them. He made his own, but im sure they can be bought. His problem wasnt replacing the seals, but rather bleeding the unit after resealing it. I think it best to let the pros handle the job, just my 2 cents
  12. I am with the rest of them, new galvanized at the trailer shop are running like 279.00 for bunks that is. you only need like the 600 pound model. Now I wished I found a used one for me last year when i dropped 2 grand for my 21 foot walk around.
  13. I put one in 5 yrs ago, and the only problem i had is the one already mentioned. The spring that makes the latch spring loaded is very weak and worked only throught he first season. Into season two I had to hook it with a bungee cord since the spring is not replacable.to dtae the spring has not broken , just seems too weak to puch it back shut. The latch is molded into the cover. That being said all i can say is look for one that has a good strong latch. maybe there have been improvements.
  14. Happy new yrs everyone. Ive been busy with the toddler who is now 7 months and havent had much time to check the sites but I need to get started doing my research for spring. Some of you may rememebr that I hit a sea turtle back in september cracking my lower unit. well since then i have found nothing but junk on the used lower outdrives scene for my boat. I came across a company that sells aftermarket outdrives and they make a mercruiser equivalent. My thoughts are to go that route and i was curious to see if anyone else has tried them. lets here some good stories i hope.
