  1. Make sure its on the side opposite the turn of the screw - the whole coriolois effect thing ya' know
  2. Nuthin' for nuthin' but it seems a matter of context. Gami that photo was the absolute epitome of what we as humans are all put on this earth for. (now if you could only get that kid out of the way ) As for context: what about 4 yr. old little johnny as he runs up to mom and says I'm hungry. And right there on the park park bench Ma pops one out and liitle johnny has a snack while moms eyes roll back and her left foot starts twitchin' a bit? or in the office maybe - who draws and where do you (rhetorical as in society) draw the line if one is to exist? Context no? apologies for the segway
  3. Wow! Thanks for the info guys! I'll give the 8 & 9 a shot this year as they are and see how they fish. The 11.5 blank will be tough for me to work with. I do need a heaver and I'm sure this would work great but transporting a long one piece is tough for me. Thanks again. By the way I could save it for the "Empire State Games " and enter the pole vaulting competition with it - it's a monster JJ
  4. Gentlemen, I jumped to this forum for some info and saw 1Dozen's post about the old honey Lami's. Today we were doing a tank pull at an older ladies house and we got to talking. Her hubby had passed away and she's cleaning out and selling the place (hence we were pulling the old inground tank) She said he was a fisherman and a rodbuilder so to make a short story long, I come away with a bunch of old fishin' books and 3 older honey Lami's looking to be about 30 some years old in mint condition. He made a his & hers setup for each of them and they never got to use them. Hers is 8 foot with varmac SS reel seat and full above below cork with double foot SS carbide guides (underwrapped)- nice handiwork. His was 9' with separate foam grips varmac SS seat with 3 folding SS guides from stripper up to the same double footers to the tip (no underwrap). The folders are fairly small in diameter and I'm not sure if that will limit distance on a cast. I'm sure I could re-wrap and if I did what would you recommend. (I'd hate to do it but if I use them, I'd like all the performance I can get) I just cleaned 'em up a bit - lotsa dust and what looks like 30 some years of "basement neglect" - no pitting, rust... The term whippy is appropriate, and I'm mostly a graphite guy anymore but does anyone use glass much anymore with braids and all? Also, I got a Blank with the following near the butt end "Lamiglass SB 136 4M" on it. It's 11.5 feet long and feels like it might make a great bait heaver. (I was actually looking for something to pair with my 706Z for bait fishing) If so I may need a build out on it. Any Idea what these may be worth or if there might be any interest in them? Thanks in advance for any input you may have. I might not get back here 'till tomorrow morning, but I'll check back then. Thanks a bunch JJ

    Soft Air guns

KML, I too broke down and got junior one for Christmas - looks like a clear AR-15. As you said a nice piece of equipment FWIW. Kid knows the rules - we shoot pellet guns, his .22 and he's popped off a shot or two with my 20 gauge. He asks if he can bring it to his buds house for a sleepover - it was ok with his friends ma' as he had one too. I tell junior to "remember the rules" and no shootin' at each other - cool I go to pick him up the next evening and they are out plinking in the yard - each with a pair of cheap goggles on. I ask "where'd the goggles come from" and am told that bud's ma had taken them to the dollar store to get them as they had "lost" there other eyewear and junior somehow took a pellet on the right eyelid - did leave a nice mark. Yes I was pissed and grilled him for the real skinny. Seems his friend decided to break the rules and play a bit of army and shot junior in the face from a distance. I told him never again and that if someone else breaks the rules and you're there it's your job to make sure rules are followed. None the less, same as with any gun, its no toy -be careful, be there and have fun J

  8. My Dad was born in 1937 and had 1 sister and 5 brothers of various ages. When he was 5 his mom (my would be grandma) was struck and killed by lightning on the back porch of their shack in greenville, south carolina. Within a year his Dad (my would be grandpa) died of alcohol induced heart failure. A couple of the older kids went to live with an aunt and my dad and some of his bro's went to connie mack orphanage. His life was hell for alot of of his formative years and when he hit 18 it was into the air force and off to Japan right after the Korean War. (my uncle was a machine gunner in the KW - boy did he have stories) When he got out of the AF on the advice of his good friend (a captain he had met - Dad was a medic)he returned with the captain to NYC and somehow put himself through Columbia U. and became a banker. He met my mom while at CU and into his adult life they had me and my sis. My dad became a CEO of a few Banks in his career here in NY and CT and is now retired. Though his life was hard, he never dwelled and he always entertained my sis and I with the funniest stories about what was done to them and what they ended up doing to others at the orphanage. I guess he looked back with a sense of humor that I now have great respect for. For years when I was a boy my Dad hit the bottle heavy and wasn't very interactive with us. He never beat us or abused us physically although ripe for it. He always provided and did very well for us. I guess I could complain about shortcomings, but imagining what his life must have really been like coming from the bottom of the barrel to the man he is now, I realize I will never be half the man he became. Although I'm pretty good - just ask me Sorry for the diatribe, but this is a great topic and it's nice to be able to write these thoughts - Thanx JJ
  9. Gents, I recall an article form earlier today which stated that a congressman's wife from CA was also removed due to the fact that she was wearing a T-shirt which read "Support Our Troops - Defend Freedom" she was astounded that with a positive support message she was booted. The Agents told her it was still a form of protest and she called them idiots. If so, it would mean that simply protocol holds the day in the chamber regardless Had to lobe the shops of Hill sitting there shaking her head - classless yet priceless JJ
