  1. Since it was opening day for turkey this saturday I figured I would head back over to the eastern shore once again! Didnt do much on the turkey, but did put a whoopin on the fish! Caught fish on a wide range of baits: buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, worms, senkos, shakey heads, flukes, lizards, poppers. They were tough on friday but I dialed them in and hit them hard on saturday and sunday. All very healthy fish with great color. Most were caught beating the bank and fishing sandy flats with submerged timber. Had an AWESOME time this weekend and will be headed to the Fl. Keys on friday with the yaks ready to come into Florida with a BANG! Sorry about the massive amount of pictures!!!!
  2. 16 Now First job was at 13 at a local tackle shop Then at 15 I got a job on a headboat as a deckhand, love the job and the money $$$$$$$$
  3. No this isnt Winter, nobody is wrapping presents, and santa claus isnt coming to my town anytime soon. The fish have finally started to stage in shallow water getting ready to spawn. The bucks are aggressive and wakes the size of sea monsters are seen as the sows chase nest raiders off the beds. It started off slow, but then all of a sudden I was catching fish left and right. All small bucks and pickeral unfortunately. I did manage to get a couple nice sized pickeral and 5 respectable bass. Lost a pretty large bowfin right next to the bout while I was trying to get a hand into his gill . Had 2 VERY large fish wake behind my bait 2 or 3 times each but I marked off where they were hanging out and I will be back to spend more time on them . All together caught around 40-50 fish, would have traded it for a few big sows but I still had a blast! I got a few fish on the frog and on the buzzbait, however once I began throwing the tube the fish went nutz, yes with a z. I picked up a pack of the trigger x tubes to try out and boy was I impressed with the results!!!! Ill be picking up a few more packs soon!! Lawst Frawg
  4. 3/12/2011 Chad and I decided to hit a local fishery here in Virginia Beach that will soon become PACKED with pads and scum so much in about 2 months that the only way to fish is weedless. We decided to take advantage of this and hit the pond with some less weedless presentation(crankbaits, spinnerbaits, etc). I caught alot of pickeral while Chad seemed to be having alot of luck on the bass. For the most part I was casting into tight pockets with the spinnerbait. The majority of fish hit the lure on the initial drop. I did manage to pick up a few bass near the end of the day with a healthy 18 incher. 3/13/2011 Forgot to set the alarm so I woke up late on sunday morning! Headed up to Gloucester to get a little under a couple hours of fishing in. Chad and I hit a small pond that we had hunted at earlier in the year. Him and Marty both had been telling me how awesome this place was. I didnt truelly find out until I got there! The fish were very eager to bite when I broke the ice with a dink and 1 17 incher. I had a small 20 minute dry spell and started hooking up again soon! I hooked those fish on a minus 1 and a spinnerbait in perch color pitched into tight cover near the shoreline. On one of the last casts of the day I managed to get a great blow up on the frog and landed a nice 6 pounder! Way to end the trip!!!! 3/14/2011 I had put the kayak on the truck, put the rods in the cab, and got my tackle in the cab so I would be able to leave straight from school to go hit a small residential pond in Virginia Beach. By small, I mean SMALL. This pond is only about 2 1/2 acres, BUT this is also where I got my 13 pound 8 ounce HOG 2 springs ago. It took me awhile to figure the fish but when I did I got several VERY good fish. The first fish was a small, but very hard fighting 15 incher. He was followed up by a back to back to back hook up of 2 17.5 inchers and a 19 incher. All of these fish were extremely FAT, ready to pass on the next generation. All of the fish today were caught on................you guessed it, a spinnerbait tossed into really tight cover near the shoreline. Had an AWESOME weekend filled with big fish and lots of learning thanks to Chad!!!!
  5. Ouch, get back to writing your book flounder. Wait, no dont do that either. Just keep s***ing your brains out.
  6. You could do a how to on reading stuff on the internet and using it as your own?
  7. Hook1 is definetly a go to for accessories Kayak Bass Fishing also has some cameras, cool stickers, books, dvds, and tons more info.
  8. Just some food for thought, some food shelters DO NOT take fish that are not cleaned. I have witnessed it first hand here in VA. You just may want to clean it ahead of time.
  9. The captain I am talking about got busted right around christmas time. Yes, alot of poaching goes down here in the winter unfortunately. One of the guys I work with who was in jail for a dui last year told me you wouldnt believe the number of people in the dog house for poaching striper. I am still trying to get this one guy busted that sets nets out every year almost every friday night. He sets them in like an 8 foot dory and acts like he doesnt speak a bit of english. Ive had friends that pulled his nets, cut them all the hell up, then sent em back down. But the guy keeps coming back. Unfortunately VMRC doesnt catch him when I call him in, I have pictures of him doing it too. But the boat is not registered so they dont have a name.
  10. Unfortunately I know the captain who got busted for the 58 fish. He also had a bunch of fillets. I dont know what was going through his mind but what a DUMB ASS. The CG had his boat chained to a dock for a while, but he was out on the water a couple weeks later fishing next to us on a wreck for seabass. Last I heard he is selling his boat, probably to pay the fines off. They forgot to mention he was past the 3 mile line when he got caught.
  11. But the crowd cheering after every 3 sentences is not.
