  1. Hearing reports on various outlets about BFT south of Block. Water temps support it but weather/wind wont let me get out there yet. Shark tourney out of Long Island was cancelled this week due to weather. I'd be willing to share intel if others contribute.
  2. I'm following this thread. Had some issues with the boat, but back in business now. Caught a hundred schoolies a few weeks ago on another boat south of bridge. I will be roaming around north of Prudence on Sunday probably throwing chunks and/or trolling.
  3. There was at least one keeper swimming around yesterday. Caught in RI.
  4. I've been catching large BSB in the upper bay for almost a month now trolling for bass. All with big bass lures. I even caught a large fluke while chunking pogies on Saturday. The BSB regulations are a huge mistake IMHO. I see no sensible reason why we have to suffer in RI, while a few miles north, MA anglers are able to harvest 8 per day.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. I will check out the "Town Dock" this coming weekend.
  6. I'm looking for some local RI squid in bulk. I need 100-200 lbs either fresh or frozen. I will break out into smaller quantities for fishing during the season. Tired of chasing down 1-3 lb packages during the year. I go through a bunch. I'm willing to travel. Any suggestions?
  7. I have been visiting Ocean City for as long as I can remember. Sue was the best. I can't add much more than what everyone has already written but I am really bummed. My condolences to the family.
  8. Never ever soak your seafood in tap water. First off the chlorine in tap water will kill your catch and the fresh water will dilute the flavor from the saltwater. Even in the brackish and mostly fresh water of the upper Chesapeake, soaking is cardinal sin. In fact, crabs are better eaten after they have dried out a little. You don't want to be drenched in fluid while eating them. I live in MA now, grew up in MD and the folks here soak their clams in tap water to flush them out. Totally not necessary.
  9. I had no problem catching bass from a boat on bait this year compared to last year. The fish were in a completely different location in general and were keyed into a specific bait. Some of the variability in catching from year to year could be forage quantity, type and quality. I did notice the size of the fish this year was slightly smaller than last. However the numbers of juvenile or schoolie bass this year was incredible. We had days were we trolled umbrellas and would get three at a time and you could catch unlimited numbers. Just my opinion on a small sample of time by the numbers of small fish I saw this year is good news for the future. In addition, I saw more small bluefish around the marina this year than last. I can't be the only one that had a good year and I am sure many folks just don't speak up.
  10. I use and 8/0 circle or octopus hook right behind the dorsal fin. The larger hook provides a little drag on the fish and allows for greater hook ups with large bass or blues. Also, when using live pogies don't forget to trim half the tail. Otherwise game fish don't see your pogie as "injured" and will swim away looking for easier prey.
  11. Not often you get a chance at a pair of peckers but this one time I was able to snap some pics and some great video.
  12. Avets. Bought one in the off season this past year and had the opportunity to use it all summer on the boat here in RI. I am a left handed reel person and Avets offer many models in the left handed version. Extremely satisfied with the purchase and will be purchasing two more of the larger models this winter for next year. Great for casting large chunk baits which is my primary way of fishing. Anyhow, back to the random images.
