  1. If you up your budget a little, Shimano Calcuttas work well for me. I'm pretty sure that you can find used ones in your price range on the auction site.
  2. Did you ever find out who sent you the tea? I haven't had a chance to look.
  3. I agree with both of you. I find that most of the other perches are mushy. We only keep red tails, and sashimi most of them. We occasionally fry some in very hot oil with only a seasoned flour coating.
  4. Welcome to the West Coast forum Chris. Depending on specific dates, I may be available to wet a line with you. I have put in a fair amount of time on the sand with less than fair results but I'm willing to keep trying. A lot of the stripers here are caught when the sun is down which means walking the beaches at night. Pacifica is pretty much in the middle of the striper fishing grounds. As far as perch, they can be a lot of fun on light gear.
  5. Enjoy your vacation Tom. You've done a great job here. I appreciate all the time and efforts you and Shannon have put in for all of us.
  6. Sorry, I don't speak Tagalog.
  7. You might want to subscribe to CDFW Pacific Herring Management News. That will let you know where the herring are.
  8. Agree with Bird Dog but would add repacking lures to fit the area where I plan to fish.
  9. I saw this tree this morning and thought of nature's camouflage.
  10. Google "casting egg"
  11. Great info. This is pretty much the standard for perch from here to So Cal.
  12. Oops, double post.
  13. Done. I will, of course, get my friends to do the same.
  14. We all know how particular we are with reels amd the condition of most rentals. My preference would be to take down my own reel(s) and rent the rods. I'm pretty sure the reels that are used down there will be useful up here.
