    Bait vs. Lures

I bring a rod for casting baits and plug with another rod at thbe same time.
  2. I really like the baitrunner I have, I dropped it in sand more than once and it still runs smooth as butter. my sustain is also very nice but I've also considered the new line they're putting out. maybe i'll wait for that , but what do you think of the Chronarch B? looks like a nice reel, unfortunately I have to order it and can't try it first. what do you think of those ''Digital Control'' reels. they're over 500 bucks, are they worth all that extra?
  3. what's up everyone! lookin to buy a couple new reels and lookin for opinions. I want a very light set-up for 4 to 6 lb. test and another low-profile I can use for bass, cats, etc. I really like the sustain 4000 I have for surf pluggin,, very light! thinking about the sustain 1500 I think. also a good low-profile reel, what about some of shimanos low-profile? are they very good or should I look elswhere? Thanx
  4. I hope that's not true about the sustain. I just bought a 4000 for pluggin on the surf and so far its been good and smooth. the guy that sold it told me it was great for what I wanted it for, light, fast, strong, smooth and affordable. I also just ordered a thunnus 1200 to replace my baitrunner 3500, which I love but would like a little more upgrade in strength since I beat on that reel plenty. lookin for a low profile baitcaster now, any suggestions? price is not an issue.

    Rogue?

I just bought a Rogue 8' med/hvy for pluggin on the beach? The guy talked me into it but I never heard of rogue, was it a good choice? Also bought a shimano sustain 4000fd.
  6. I heard about great catfishing on the delaware and me and a friend figured on trying it out. we fished a couple areas near rte. 80 but didn't even get 1 hit all day till around 8:30. we used night crawlers and chicken livers and were stumped. we fished in the rain, I don't know if that had any poor effect. or the current,, I don't know, any advice or tips would help.
  7. thanx, those were some good tips and I think my problem musta been fishing them in early mornin on a highly overfished lake. gotta find some better areas to fish.
  8. Hey guys ,havin a little trouble assembling my fluke rigs. I have 4 and 6 oz. egg sinkers, #90 swivels, 4/0 octopus hooks, #1 3-way swivels, 40 lb. test mono leader and its being attached to my 40 lb. braid. I'm real new and lookin for good advice. thanx
  9. hey guys, went freshwater yesteday and used a jitterbug and hulapopper. only one hit on the jitterbug. can u help me with a technique or is it a simple steady retrieve? time of day?
  10. man those fish are huge! how do you handle a flathead that big?
  11. wow that's some big fish. what would be the best rod and reel set-up? baitcaster or spinning and what line? I have a couple hefty poles I use for saltwater boating.

    Gear Ratio?

thanx mickrazz that makes sense now, and crashq thanx also. I don't want to make a mistake when spending a lot on my gear. I currently fish with a 7' med ugly with a shimano 3500 and love it for the boat but just ordered an abu 6500c4 with a lamiglas 11' med. I was just hoping I picked a good set-up for fishing sandy hook or other beaches I can find that look appealing. great info guys.

    Gear Ratio?

can someone help me with determining gear ratio? for instance, the difference between 7.1:1 and 6.3:1. also difference between rod strength. for pluggin on the beach would I use a L,M or H rod? and same thing for live bait casting. I'm new and don't wanna buy the wrong stuff.
  14. ahh ok, that makes sense. ty surfish.
  15. don't want to sound too stupid but I'm kinda a newbie. what exactly is a blank?
