  1. Well the thinking is. Filled with foam they won't crush and if punctured will remain boyant. I think im going to cut an arch in a 2 x 12 and sit it on the barrel. These barrels have a 3/4 heavy plastic lip at each end. I think that would hold some stainless screws into the arched 2 x 12. Three arched pieces, one in the middle and each end should be enough? Two 55 gallon drums on each end and maybe one in the middle should float a 24ft by 6ft float made of 2 x 10 CCA lumber?
  2. Hey. Has anyone built a floating dock using those plastic 55 gallon drums you find washed up on the marsh? The float drums they sell for docks are very expensive. My thinking is i could fill the drum with foam and use them for the floatation. Just how would i fasten them under the dock is the question?
  3. Ah I bet the real reason you want LI is for the Pizza! I don't imagine you can get good pizza in AK? However, talkin fishing! Shinnecock is tops in my opinion. Only second to FL Keys!
  4. Yes! I found them at my local fish store and bought a couple pounds! Fried im up and man are they good! Have not had them in over 10 yrs! He said they came from montauk?
  5. I agree that if it lasted this long it'll be ok. Just remember to change your pump and thermostats every couple of years. These engines don't tolerate week water pumps! If it overheats its doa. Mine is a 1998 175 ficht that I bought in 2000 with all upgrades done out of the box. Still runs great! Guess I got a good one?
  6. This traditional Mexican dish is often sold by street vendors in Mexico. Birria can be made with beef, veal, pork, goat or lamb making it quite versatile. Does any one have a recipe for this dish in a crock pot?
  7. Hmm? Do the potatoes make the dairy curdle? I make a fish chowder with Knor cream of leak soup mix and monk fish and potatoes. Taste great but the milk always curdles?
  8. Hmm? I wonder what the health risk is in eating a fish that old? I understand things like mercury and pcb's concentrate in the fatty tissue of fish and acumulates and stays there as it gets older. Its one of the reasons I prefer to keep and eat a 28 to 30 inch bass over a big one? Heck just look into the warnings on eating Tuna! Lots of mercury in them!
  9. Birria is a spicy Mexican meat stew usually made with briscut beef, lamb or goat Birria is made using a base of dried roasted peppers. This gives birria both its characteristic savoriness as well as its remarkable variety, as different cooks will choose different peppers to use for the broth base. Birria is served by combining a bowl of broth with freshly chopped roasted meat of the customer's choice. One eats it by filling a corn tortilla with meat, onions and cilantro, seasoning with fresh squeezed lime juice, and then dipping it into the broth before eating it. The broth itself is also eaten with a spoon or by drinking from the bowl. I had this dish down in Mexico many years ago and would love to make it at home in a crock pot. Any ideas or reciepes.
  10. Hmm? I am seeing a lot of saw dust in my stack of swamp maple firewood. I see no ants or termites tunnels. Its stacked on pressure treated planks resting on bricks to keep it off the ground. its also covered with scrap pieces of shrink wrap. Now When I say a lot of saw dust I mean a LOT! I'm a little paranoid about bringing it into the house to burn but as I said I see no critters even when Its burning in the stove? Any ideas?
  11. Dunno? What about all the illegals fishin under the bridges and dumpin all their garbage on the shore. You know the guy's who keep every fish that comes up. I they don't get a fishin license then the dec can toss them outa there? These guy's know that if they aint got no ID the boys in green can't do much to them. Could have some good points?
  12. I think we will see big bunker schools in the future. We didn't get that hot weather, algea oxygen depleation, fish kills in the back bay this year! The water has stayed relativly cool and the storms brought with their super high tides lots of clean fresh water in some well flushed bays. Or maybe people just used less firtilizer on their lawns this year?
  13. Tandem Is definatly the way to go. The torsion axles will give you a very smooth ride compaired to leaf springs. Don't know about longevity though I can't say I've heard of any issues on that? Leaf springs can last a long time as long as you rins them after every dunkin in salt water. I do however love the disc brakes for just that reason! you can rins them real well unlike drum brakes that just suck.
  14. I have a 1998 ficht 175. The only thing I would recomend on all the DI evenrudes is replace the water pump every 2 years! The thermos use water press to push them open @ WOT. It was an expensive lesson I learned. Other than poor diagnostic softwear for the pre Bombardier motors they are ok I think.
  15. Hmm? Some Knor cream of leak soup mix, Milk, little butter and some striped bass or monk fish. Then pepper to taste! Very good and very fast!
