  1. Yes it is widely available. I know about it from fly fishing and it works great.
  2. Are they available here yet? Can I have one? Where can I get it?
  3. Thanks for the reply. And No, my knots are'nt slipping. I was just trying to find out if it was used. I also fly fish, and this stuff is great. You can shape a little football shape around your knot, and you don't have to worry about wearing out the knot as you drag it through your guides for several hours.
  4. Does anyone know of a chart showing line diameters and lb test of various brands of mono. I'm particularly interested in Sufix tritanium and Trilene big game between 15 and 25 lb test. Thanks and hapy Thanksgiving
  5. Thank you
  6. I saw a 1205 in J&H in Oakdale last week.
  7. I am so new to rod building that I haven't built one yet. However, I have been doing some research and have found different guide set ups. Can any one chime in on what you prefer? I'm going to build it in conventional using mono. I've seen 7, 8 and 9 toal guides and some going from #25 to #16, and some going down to #12 from #25. i am sure that the very accomplished builders have vey learned reasons for picking what they did, but can you guys tell me what would make you pick what you pick? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thank you guys. I can't wait to cast this thing after it's built.
  9. I need to correct myself. On my 5th reading of Ron Arra's book, I see that he does use a #30 stripper guide. Sorry. If Poppy is out there, I'd like to here from you as I would like to use my 6500 abu on it. Thanks
  10. May I please see a picture?
  11. That kicking fish that you didn't want to catch thing bugs the hell out of me too. Why bother to fish if it bothers you that much,
  12. I'm interested in either place. Let's keep it going.
  13. I have been asking and searching questions about conventional casting and fishing for almost a year now and today I need to thank you guys for your help. I went down to the beach with my abu 6500c3ct mag, lamiglas 1203 and a super strike sinking popper. Deciding to try the modified peldulum cast, after slowing down enough to let the rod load properly, I was throwing that thing so far I was laughing to my self. I can't wait to see what the 1322-2 will do with this lure next year. It's gonna be fun learning on that CASTING MACHINE. Thanks again. Have a great Thanksgiving.
  14. I'm wondering because I want to experiment with non reel seat rods. Thanks
  15. Checked out trigg'rr clamp, and I'm not sure it's a clamp. In the picture, it is on a reel that is already in a reel seat. It might be a trigger that can also clamp if there is a top half to attach to. please let me know if I'm wrong. I will check out the shimano clamp later. Thanks guys!
  16. Can anyone who uses this mono tell me where you can guy spools on Long Island. I have'nt seen it. Thank you
  17. Thanks. Does it matter what reel you put om when setting up a conventionl rod?
  18. Does anyone have experience with this rod in both one and two pieces? I have a feeling I'm going to end up with both in spinner and conventional. Just held this rod in the store yesterday and I must have it (them). I'm looking for as detailed a difference in 1 vs 2 pieces as you can give. Thanks guys
  19. bump
  20. Poppy What line do you have on the 6500 rocket? Thanks
  21. Poppy Thanks for the reply. Is that rocket a 6500 or 7000?
  22. When plugging the Long Island shore for Stripers and blues with my first home made rod. I am going to be using mono on my new 1322 when it gets made. What I would like to know is, what mono and # test you use, if you use it? What reel conventional reel you use? Do you use either or both of these reels on this rod? Which casts further? Which casts light lures better? So far, i like these feel of the 525 when reeling in a fish. It feels more substantial. I think from what I've been reading, that the 6500 will be a little more versital and controllable in different conditions and send lighter lures further. Any info on other reel choices would be great. Like do you use a level wind at night? Thanks
  23. Thanks Ditch Ron's recipe in his book has the stripper at #25, and indeed you are right that it has 7 guides. Can you tell me what would make a mono or braid configuration? This will be made for mono.
  24. Yes I will be using a shock leader. Thank you.
