  1. These are my project this year. I am having a lot of fun with them. I'm experimenting with the 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, and 2 1/4 oz sizes.
  2. I'm gonna get one and check it out. Can you describe what you like about it? Thanks
  3. No it doesn't. Thanks for the response though.
  4. Todays score. Caught just as many SEA ROBINS on kastmaster, PJ black knight butterfish, A17, 007, hopkins shorty and Bucktails. They outfished the two guys next to me combined. They were fishing pencils, poppers and bombers. I hope the fact that I was catching sea robins, means that I was fishing these lure properly, and just didn't come across any hungery bass. Practicing keeping a tin swimming as slow as I can most of the time.
  5. Isn't it great?
  6. Can you say what you consider bigger metals? And how you fish them? Thanks. I really appreciate all the answers in tis thread.
  7. Diamond jigs with tube tails (while I am no expert), can be fished many ways. This depends on the water depth, water conditions and the weight your using. I am not yet good at actual jigging, but I have had good success with a straight retrieve. Maybe some of the sharper fishermen than I cam chime in.
  8. Very nice stuff. Thank you. i was thinking about using various trailers.
  9. Welcome. You have your reasons for wanting to learn to fish, and that's great. I can tell you that this site is fantastic for getting advice. Use the search feature a lot and you will find that most of your questions have been answered in many different ways. And always feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I'm not sure where you are, but I think you should decide what type of fishing you want to do, before you spend a boat load of money. You can search that as well. lots of good advice on starter set ups for all different types of fishing here. I'll leave it there for now. Go out and have fun. And nice job trying to do something with your kids. Good luck
  10. I'll add my 2 cents here. I've found that for me to keep a steady wobble, it sometimes means that my retrieve speed must be ever changing. Very quick changes of get it going, slow it down, get it going , slow it down. This gives it a very inticing (to me) consistently unstable wobble. Think dieing fish dragging itself home with short spurts of energy. Also don't get married to a particular retreive. You will eed to change as the conditions and what gets them to bight change.
  11. Can smelly jelly get old and unusable? If so, how long does it take. And does it smell goodwhen it goes bad or just get worse? I am serious about the question, silliness aside. Thanks
  12. Does anyone know what size trebles they put on the shorty 2.25, 1.5, 1 and .75oz? Thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks guys.
  14. thanks, but I've tried emailing them and they respond by saying "we sell whatever you need", so I didn't persue it.
  15. I use a #54 duolock snap, and while it takes longer than most plugs, both the one and two ounce Cordell pencils will fit just fine. So you see you have some choices to make. Try em and see what works best for you.
  16. That's great. I had a lady throw up in front of me at dinner last night and I tuffed it out. Not as courageous as you, but pretty hard none the less. Seriously thanks to you and people like you, it makes the world a better place.
  17. This rod id amazing! Areal work of art. Cost over $500 to have built three years ago. Used a handful of times. Shrink tube handle. Don't remember the name of the guides. Fuji silicone... They where around $100. I am not using it so I will let it go. This is a steal for a conventional plugger. Let me know. If picking up, I'm in Smithtown on Long Island.
  18. Perfect condition. Used once. I am having two rods built now and as you can see by how much I'm selling, I need the cash to pay for my new stuff. I think this rod will be pick up only, as I don't think I want ship a 9' rod. This is a great price and a great rod. Some call it the perfect back bay rod. I'll put pics up today some time, but all the stuff I'm selling, is in beautifaul condition. Forgot to mentio, this rod, like all my customs, has no reel seat.
  19. Thank you.
  20. Rod is sold pending payment.
  21. Nice job.
  22. Oh yeah, I'm in Smithtown.
  23. I just took a look, and I think it is just the way the flash is hitting the epoxy. Your welcome to come take a look for yourself. Let me know. Thanks for asking.
