  1. Tony, We haven't purchased BA's any other place in over 2 years! Ele will send out your order the same day you place it if you call her in the AM. I have actually received my order in two days! Talk about service!!! If you fish the Flats you have to stop in and get a copy of the Super Susky Map! Ele, Mike and Herb are great people, everyone should stop by and say hi if you are in the area. Hell, make a special trip, you will not regret it! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  2. Uhhh Gee, thanks Tony BTW-I went to a few physics professors to figure out the answer to our little tube problem. They have some pretty computer modeling there, you can add all the variables that you want and see everything. The answer is "it depends" We'll go more into depth another time, I got to go eat!!! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  3. BTW, forgot to ask what you were using before trolling. ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  4. Jason, Glad to see that you got out. That learning curve is kind of elusive at times. When you were trolling, were you trying to troll the rip? If so, not a good idea if other boats at the rip. Won't make a lot of friends that way! Most people monitor channel 68 if the radio is even on. Mostly just drift by and yell. See you out there.
  5. Welcome aboard Dave! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  6. Greetings Steve! Welcome Aboard! Usuaally fish the Pax. River area also (Gas Docks and CCNP rips mostly). Also fish from a 17'CC. Hope to see you on the water soon. ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  7. Dal, Was wondering how rough it was getting down there. It should really be interesting tomorrow. Francis and I got out with Darryl this AM, left Flag Harbor at 8 AM, fished til 1 PM, couldn't take much more after then. Got a little dicey! Francis will probably post results later, lets just say that the fish ARE at the Rips! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  8. Phil, Ditto what PhilK said. I can't emphasize enough how useful a good chart book can be. We use the ADC(Alexandria Drafting Company) Chesapeake Bay chart book. It can be found at all boating stores, most book stores and other places like Costco and some convenience stores. I know you posted about Tilghman Island and north but wouldn't overlook some areas south and on the other side. It isn't that far of a run south and across to CCNP(Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant) and the gas docks. The gas docks are located on the western shore between CCNP and Cove Point. If you are interested, some of our more computer literate contributors will post links from the Archives about fishing these areas. Just ask! Hope to see you on the water some time this year. Good Fishing! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  9. Dal, Somehow I envision the last shot you posted as your wallpaper!! You are so right, LIFE IS GOOD!! Those two sentences you wrote say it all. Every moment IS a treasure. Definitely up for the trolling trip!! Glad you finally got the boat high and dry. ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  10. Dal, Sorry we missed you. Daryl had a function to attend tonight. We left the rips about 2 PM. You must have gotten there shortly after that. Looks like we may have caught the same fish!!! Great pictures, glad to see you and Kelsey had a good time !! Thats what lifes all about isn't it? ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  11. Thanks for posting son, I just got in. Guys, it was one great trip! Every fish had size to it. ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  12. Got a call about two hours ago from Daryl, firmed up with Francis about ten minutes ago, another Rips trip for Saturday!!! Any one else going out tomorrow? If so, see you there! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  13. Brian,Tony and Pete; Glad you had a great day! Appears the Force was good to you. Now lets see, Warm water discharge, Patapsco River, Pete was talking to the nearby Coasties..... doesn't leave much to speculation! Too far North for me! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  14. Tony, In your recordation of the hardy, let us not forget the Prince of Solomons, the Young Jedi Warrior whose insistence led us out on such a day! Not to mention the fact that he landed the largest catch of the day in quantity and quality! And to you Graybeard, you have done it again! Whet our appetite and leave us hanging! Dastardly!!! ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
  15. Friends, Francis and I once again were invited by a most gracious Daryl Bush to join him on yet another winter Rips escapade. Left Solomons ramp at approx. 9:30 AM. The river wasn't too bad, a little choppier then expected. As we rounded Drum Point we were greeted with 2'-3' seas. Still not too bad, though with the wind out of the North, we knew the best was yet to come! Once we moved out past the protection of Cove Point we were greeted with easily steady 3' seas with many waves of 4'. Not a problem for the Parker, but thank heavens for the cabin. We took so many waves across the bow, that by the time we reached the rips the boat was literally covered with ice. Glad Daryl had radar installed because you could not see out the windshield due to ice. Finally reached the rips with (surprise) not another boat in site! On the first cast Daryl and Francis both hooked up! Great things to come we thought! We drifted the rip several times and managed to catch a fish on most drifts for the first hour or so. The wind started to die a little and so did the bite. Highlight of the trip was the 34" fish Francis boated (picture forthcoming). Around 3:30 PM Walleye Pete showed up solo. We left shortly thereafter for a smoother trip back to Solomons. Wouldn't have wanted to miss this one! Many thanks to Daryl as Francis and I couldn't have made it in our boat. Francis may add more later. ------------------ Bill Zell Salt Shaker
