  1. Hi fishguts430. I am a Jersey guy that was relocated to Maryland for work. Last year I really started focusing in on the Kent Island area and have had some success with Stripers and White Perch. I think I have more to learn. Leaving home water after decades was like a total fishing-knowledge reset! I did catch a flounder there in Kirwan Creek near Goodhands Landing this past October. The salinity was up. I suspect there are more flounder in Eastern Bay than most folks realize. If anyone wants to hook up for some trips this year, I'm in. I mostly prefer fly fishing, light tackle, and this year will add some crabbing effort. Here is a picture of the fluke that hit a Rattletrap! I drive a Solo Skiff.
  2. I have 3 Star Stellar Lite Surf rods in light and medium (1 & 2 piece). I absolutely love them. The 8 ft 1 pc rod easily handled this 13 lb bluefish. Go for the 9'. The action BTW is not so medium. more like medium fast.

  13. Perhaps my aging mind is fading in its memory I'm going to edit the post to pull Frank out 'cause the rest is Socratically valid. If he really is a hunter so be it. I apologize for my stupid inaccuracy. Biggie
  14. After having read Striper Surf and The Moby Striper (admittedly it has been a while) my understanding was that he used 20lb mono exclusively because it was the sweet spot between abrasion resistance and castability.
  15. But probably after giving the fish a fighting chance ...
