  1. Hey everyone. I have noticed that mnay guys forgo the use of a reel seat and tape the reel directly to the corktape handle. I wrapped a couple rods without a reel seat, as it appeared to be far less bulky and also removed some unneccessary weight. My question is what is the best way to attch the reel to the rod? I have done a search but couldn't find a very clear answer. Also, is there nay technique in using the tape that yields better results than others? Thanks, Derek
  2. Thanks everyone. The rods are sold to John M and sandstone. Thanks, Derek
  3. Hey guys. I have posted abouty selling these two before, and have been convinced not to. However, now they definitely have to go. I have both a 1204 and 1205 made by Mike Thomas at M and D's tackle. He does a great job and is a well-known builder. These rods have each been used for one season, with the 1205 getting no more than a few casts with some of my larger plugs. Both are in great shape and are really nice looking. Both have ls7bb plate reel seats, cork tape, and fuji sic high frame guides. The 1204 is wrapped woith silver under, black overwrpa, and gold trim, while the 1204 has a pewter (dark silver) under, black over, and silver trim. Both have awesome daimond patterns as well. I am looking to get 240 shipped for the 1204 and 260 shipped for the 1205. I am taking a pretty good hit on these, but want to sell them ans get ready for the season. feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks, Derek
  4. hey Guys. I'm building a couple xra1083s and had a quick question. What length do you guys make your foregrip. I made one right now with 4 incnhes of cork tape exposed, in between buttwrap and short wrap on reel seat. What do you guys prefer, longer or shorter foregrips? Thanks, Derek
  5. Sorry guys, been gone a few days. I've decided to keep them, can't see my self taking such a loss on these. i'm jusrt gona fish emhard and not worry about em, they got a lifetime warranty anyway. Thanks, Derek
  6. Hey everyone. I have two Ron Arras that I'm looking to get rid of. They were made by Mike Thomas at M and D's in wareham. Mikes a helluva builder and did a great job on these rods. I have both a 1204 and 1205, both 1 piece. Both also have high frame sic fujis. The 1204 is wrapped with silver underwrap, black overwrap, and gold trim. The 1205 has pewter underwrap (dark silver), black overwrap, and silver trim. Both have incredible daimond wraps on the butt section. i have had thse rods for one seaosn, and the 1205 has seen very little, less than 50 casts. Both are in excellent shape. I am selling because Im sick of "babying my tackle" and these pieces of equipment are to high quality for me to fish hard, I just can't afford to break one. Reply if interested, Thanks, Derek
  7. Thanks for the offer Oz, but i'd rather keep it than sell it for that prcie. I may just have to throw it on ebay. From what I hear, you gotta handle these things with care, which is the reasoin im selling it as I beat the crap out of my gear. thanks, Derek
  8. I have brand new, never used, Tica Taurus 6000 (saltwater, black) that i am looking to get rid of. Reel is never sued, comes with box and all papers. I paid 200 for the reel, but am willing to let it go for 160 shipped. Thanks, reply or pm me if interested, Derek
  9. hey guys. I got a pair of nautil 7500 (yellows) that I am looking to get rid of. Both have been used very slightly this season and are in great shape. I may have used each twice for a few casts. The reels come with box and paperwork. I am looking to get 95 shipped for each. Thanks, Derek
  10. hey Tim. i am looking to pick up a few more Nautils before there impossible to get. How mnay 6500's (yellow) do you have left. I'm looking to pick up 4-6 of them. Thanks, Derek
  11. Thanks DJ. Thats what I was thinking. Yea, you're right, I am a right hand crank, so I only have the choice of those two models. I'll see what others say, but im 90 percent sure ill be goin with a 250. Thanks again, Derek
  12. Hey everyone. I just have one quick question. I am trying to decide whether I should use a vs150 or 250 on my Arra 1204. I use the rod mainly for eeling the outercape. I know the 150 is significantly lighter, but I worry if it's too small. Just looking for some opinions. Thanks, Derek
  13. Finally, got my hand on a pair of van staals. So now I'm selling these 2 reels that I no longer need. I have 2 Nautil 6500 pro (yellow). They are new this year, I got them in May. I used them on a 2 week excursion on the cpae and thats it. Both are in great shape. Have the boxes, paperwork, reel bag,etcx....all the accessories. I will let each go for 105 shipped and insured. Also, I have a custom Arra 1205 that I'm looking to move. It has fuji sic high frames, as well as all other fuji compents, including a plate (ls7bb) reel seat. It is wrapped with a burgundy metallic underwrap, black overwrpa and silver trim. here is no fancy buttwrap. This rod looks realy nice and professional. It is bascially new, threw a few casts with it, but never even caught a fish. I am looking to get around 240 for it. Will sell with Nautil as a combo for 325. Being the rod is 10 feet, the buyer may want to arrange some sort of pickup with me, I'll help out all I can. Otherwise, shipping will be upwards of 70.00, unless you'd like the rod trimmed down. Thanks, Derek
  14. Hey Guys. Also got a 1205. Sorry Shag, you're right, I didn't write on the 1322. Thanks, Derek
