    Never
  1. If there's pike there, I'd like to try it. Never actually caught one.
  2. Three things, first the turtle that fell down a waterfall to us. Then my little cousin with his bass Sunday, and mine tonight.
  3. Wow, I live right near Coes and Patches, off June St. in Worcester. Haven't seen many there, nor many carp (like the monsters that kids used to bow hunt in the creek), but I've been catching rock bass in MA for awhile. I had something on the line in Wachusett Res. last week, it was like a bass but all white/silver, got off though. Bigger than a rock bass, not a white perch or a crappie (at least not black crappie)
  4. Leesville Pond, right on Hope Ave in Worcester. Connected to Curtis/Coes/Stoneville, but it is VERY close to a part of the Blackstone (runs along Southbridge st.) In fact there's three tunnels that go under I-290....I almost got through but got stuck. Finally made it out and decided not to try again. I never really fished there since moving into a house on Hope Ave maybe 2 years ago. WAY too many weeds, and it doesn't freeze in the winter. I do get some fishing in before fall, where it becomes almost 100% unfishable. There's also not many spots to fish from shore. Anyway, here is the other picture of the bass I had, along with my little cousin.
  5. That actually does look good, I'm curious to hear the responses as well.
  6. Are there any catfish that are decent size there? I'm about an hour from the CT river, if there's a fair chance of me catching one even 3-6 lbs I'd be happy to try it. Not sure if I'd have better luck at the MA end or somewhere in CT?
  7. Man I need to get out to this lake more. Too many weeds in the rest of the season, spring is best. I caught one bigger than the one pictured on the same lure last may in about 10" of water from the same pond. And another the same size lost lifting into boat....we really need a net.
  8. 37" sounds insane! Looking at the pictures side to side, it looked more pickerel like due to the pattern as opposed to spots. I just can't get over the idea of one that big in a small pond. (This thing was bigger around than the bass, and longer.)
  9. Hi. On Saturday night I took my little cousin out fishing in the lake behind my house. It is relatively close to the Blackstone river/canal. (Pike in there?) Anyway, using Rapala jointed floating minnows. I pulled this on my first cast. Went out and caught a few more after snapping a few pics of the big one. (Was bigger than cell pics made him look, any rough idea on weight?) Now the next morning we went out around 5:30. Got on e maybe 2 lbs bass, no pic. A few more small pickerels and crappies. Now, I take his pole (to prove it's not 'defective') and tell him I will catch a fish to prove him wrong....one cast and BOOM, 50 feet from where I got the big bass the night before. I see the gold flash, expecting another monster, maybe even bigger!!. Goes to his side after a small half-jump, he pulls the line instead of the fish and it falls off the side of the boat. Now what I saw was scary; it was a pickerel (or so it seemed) but its girth was LARGER than the bass. It was real long too. Our longest last year was my buddies, about 25" I believe, but gave a LONG skinny illusion when reeling in. This one gave a 'bass illusion' meaning it had the girth of a large bass. When I say big, I mean between a 2 liter and 3 liter bottle. Now, I've never heard of Pike being in there, and we've never caught one. I only got a glimpse of this fish out of water for a second, but it was more green than yellow, so not a muskey. Is there a chance I found a pike in a small pond, or is it more likely I had a monstrous pickerel? (Relative to pics/weights posted on here, it was over 6 or even more, the state record was 9.6 I believe?) It seems unlikely an 18 year old would have caught some almost record breaking pickerel in a small backyard pond, but if they are in the Blackstone, is it possible he was a pike? Thanks and sorry for the long read
  10. I am hoping to head down to Warwick this week with a friend of mine. Are there any places to fish? Don't really care what I catch, just hope to catch something. Also, are there any docks/places where I can leave my eel trap overnight? Maybe on Narraganset Bay? Thanks a lot, Ryan
  11. Got it in Falmouth, more specifically East Falmouth/Teaticket. I am not sure if they get much larger, but the cast before I had something that looked similar that was maybe 2.5 pounds. Got off at the rocks.
  12. Thanks. Are these common in MA? Eatable?
