  1. I agree with supporting your local shops when possible. Dicks also has a decent selection of long guns for all the hunters out there! -J
  2. Wishing you the very best and a quick recovery. Have a wonderful Christmas! Jason
  3. one of the classic Mitchells. Can't break 'em...trust me. I've been beating one up for 14 years and believe it or not it's still my "go to".
  4. JonS, I just bought a place right near Lefferts. Guess I'm gonna have to give that a shot, although it looks like it was made for a yak! -J
  5. Been fighting the urge to venture into the world of toggin' (for lack of "proper" equipment and such), but today as I'm walking to lunch in Ft. Lee, I stop in this Japanese place and am greeted by a fishtank full of WHITECHINS!!! Big ones at that! Think I might have to just bite the bullet and throw a reel on my brother-in-law's Sealine X (that he leaves in my garage). Of all places, Ft. Lee, and I still can't escape! -J
  6. Our prayers are certainly with you, your buddy and his family. -The Cardones
  7. Count me in please. Thanks! J
  8. Mick83, Exactly! It appears there should be a spring in there to keep the mechanism from "swinging" freely. Nowhere to be found though. I think I may have to take Cabelas up on their offer. J
  9. Well, finally got around to disassembling my 2600 and I have to say I'm at a loss. The anti-reverse mechanism seems to be flimsy at best, and it seems like there should have been a spring there somewhere that is nowhere to be found. I cleaned and lubed and the thing just has issues. Called Cabelas and they said they may honor the warranty since I ordered it a year and 1 day ago, but that put's me out of the game to some extent. I guess I'm just frustrated. Maybe I'm missing something. Anyone have similar issues with a recent 2600? Maybe the quality has gone downhill? I also don't want to replace it with another one for fear it won't last a year (I take pretty good care of my stuff). Anything else in that price range? Thanks in advance for listening, J
  10. Athletic tape... rip it off in short sections and wrap on the finger. don't wrap all the way around (reason for short sections) as you will cut off circulation whether you think so or not. This stuff has been my friend through years of athletics and now I use it in the surf until the calouses get "strong" enough.
  11. My anit-reverse on my SS2600 suddenly stopped working. Haven't yet taken the reel apart, but wondering if any of you guys have seen this. Thanks guys! -J
