  1. Yesterday I fished about 1.5 miles of the French creek in the Bucktown area. Seemed to me that the fish hadn't traveled from the holes they were stocked in. The usual holes I fish on opening day were empty. Still caught 10 fish just only in over crowded "powerbait" holes. I'm going to see how Hibernia and Downingtown Region of the Brandywine are tomorrow morning I hope to have a better report. Last year I landed a 40 inch musky so it could be fun.
  2. I used a 8 ft. tsunami trophy series with a Penn 4500 reel. I like the stiff backbone and fast action. Helps control the fish a little better. I think its in the $70 range. Good rod for the money. I use this rod over my nicer Croix and lami rods because cat fishing is usually muddy with a chance of broken rod.
  3. I'm in West Brandywine TWP. Sometimes you can find an open pool in Hibernia park. I usually just wait 4 or 5 days till the fish get used to the creek and the crowds of powerbait fisherman to clear out.
  4. Love my Conflict 5000. Handle took a trip or so to get used to. Great construction, water proof and you can find them on amazon for $118.00. I have mine spooled with 300yards of #30 powerpro.
  5. I have mystery tackle box and like it. Its a good way try lots of different lures and baits. I've gotten some good buck tails, swim baits and plastics that I've caught fish on.
  6. shark or sailfish from a sea kayak.
  7. I've used a gold Johnsons spoon in the surf before. Worked good but not as good as the silver.
  8. IMO a 4000-5000 size would be prefect. But I say use what you have you wont notice a difference other then your wallet will be thicker.
  9. I have a conflict 5000 that I love. Much better then the battle 2. No spooling problems and seems to be actually waterproof. The handle took a couple casts to get used to but no complaints. Great reel for the money!
  10. Seagull tried to steal my bait mid cast got rapped around his wing. Then it bit me when it I tried to free it.
  11. If your going that early I would target black drum with a fishfinder rig. Hopefully waters warm faster then last year!!
  12. If you can convince the wife I would say try to go in mid may. Water temps should be nearing that perfect temp.
  13. Jeeps are great vehicles. Cheap, simple, reliable and you can drive it on the beach. What more could you want
  14. Spring time cats and smallies!!! I can't wait!!!!
  15. 99 thru 2002.5 ford e250 or e350 with a 7.3 diesel motor. 17-20 mpg. Plenty of power to tow a camper and or gear. Get one with under 75k it will last you a lifetime. These motors will go 300k plus easy. (with regular mant.) If you make sure to pressurewash your van under and above after every trip. 2x a year you can even spray a 50/50 mix diesel fuel and used motor as an undercoating. Helps with rust much better then regular undercoating which traps the saltwater and moisture into the cracks. Hope this helps.
