  1. Long time lurker first time poster, mainly because I usually fish further South. Spent the last week in Georgetown and found fish every day despite having to fish around the weeds. During the daytime i encountered mostly small schoolies but the night tides tended to produce a keeper or two every day. 5" mackerel color mag darter and 5" smoky joe redfin caught 90% of my fish with the other 10% on tins and bucktails. Kept one fish that swallowed the mag darter and was bleeding out. I have definitely found my new favorite place in Maine.
  2. My main open beach rod. I have the 1-4 oz rated model and it's put hundreds of bass on the beach. A little over rated lure weight wise more like 3/4-3 in my opinion. Absolutely launches plugs and I have caught fish up to 35 pounds on it.
  3. I have a 6000 and a 4000 that I use for beach and light tackle back bay fishing respectively. The 6000 has caught bass to 25lb and blues to 15lb and has been splashed and dunked frequently with no problems. The 4000 has absolutely done work out back and has probably landed 200 fish since April. Had a minor issue with a missing part back in May (lost a pin while cleaning and regreasing) I contacted a Tsunami rep and they sent me a replacement part for free the next day. Solid reels, A+ customer service, I am really glad I took a chance on them.
  4. Did ok in the limited time I had. I found a place nearby where I caught macks and Pollack off the rocks on light tackle. I also headed a little bit south and ended up catching seven bass 12"- 16" on light tackle from the beach tuesday.
  5. I'm headed North at the end of the week to spend some time at a friends cottage in the South Bristol area. This is a lot further north than I've fished before. Anyone here fish the area? Should I bring my surf gear? What am I likely to encounter species wise? Not looking for spots just some basic info on what to expect. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. 45 inches 33 lbs caught and released North of Cape Ann. Also my PB! Ate a mackerel pattern mag darter.
  7. I use the 9' diawa sp coastal paired with a clash 5000. It's a great lightweight combo. I can cast it for hours with minimum fatigue. I've caught bass to 25lbs on it and Blues to 15lbs.
  8. Loaded redfin any color, Mag darter (original or 2oz) any color, Yellow SS Darter.
  9. I use a bailess 711 greenie a lot for plugging and eeling at night. That reel has caught more fish than all my others combined. It's spooled with 20lb fireline.
  10. Plugged a local inlet on the drop tonight. Only had one fish in four hours but she was a pig. Easily the fattest 33" fish I've ever seen. She had a 14 inch shad lodged in her throat. Not sure why she hit the mag darter.
  11. Caught and released my PB a few nights ago on a mag darter from the beach. 45" long with 25" girth. Guessing #30+
  12. Been killing it late night on a north shore beach, the big mag darter has been getting it done.
  13. Try posting this in the Maine/New Hampshire forum. Lots of guys fish the oob/saco area. I tend to fish a little south of there myself.
  14. Yellow or yellow over white Super Strike Darter. Fish it slow at night.
  15. I have the 4000 paired with a seven and a half foot inshore rod and have taken easily 100 bass in back bay and tidal creeks this spring. This reel is a tank and this setup has landed several decent fish to 20lbs. I really don't need a sealed reel for the kind of fishing that I'm using it for though. Mostly throwing light bucktails, 5" inch redfins, and Jumping Minnows.
