  1. Youth sports have officially taken over multiple spring and fall trips. I’ve traded time on the sand for time in the streams around home, new fishing gear for new LAX/Baseball Equipment, but it’s good to get down for a few Father/kid trips. My friend’s son with his first big fish landed solo. The smiles say it all. We had 6 Stripers over 36”, 5 drum, a doggy, and ~7,378 skates Thursday through Saturday. It was good to catch up with a few old SOL buddies and bend a few rods.
  2. Must have malts dot com is across the pond and bomb proof shipping. Buy in 3s to amortize the cost. Not for standard bottles but Four Roses Limited Edition, Blanton’s SFTB, and other hard to get items.
  3. Around 2013 is when the rule changed for MD and under the cover of darkness. It led to a major stink because it was adopted for Tidal waters poorly written, affecting Trollers in the bay. Bev (BTF) posted here about SFAC trying to put through emergency measures to postpone the reg in January of 2014. That said it was buried in COMAR and I couldn’t locate it with any ease. I am curious if anyone more familiar with the regs knows if it was taken off the books or remains but is rarely enforced. I do believe VA has it on the books and remember the signs that were posted at one time. My sons been fishing with me most trips since 2014 so it was not a concern for me but my days of running 6+ rods are behind me and my little helper is now an actual helper/rod tender.
  4. Finally gave up the ghost. I decanted the last 700ml or so but kept the jug. Last pour of a solid bottle.
  5. My Daughter abusing one on a Fallfish yesterday
  6. I can’t argue with that. I feel the same about PVW23 and most extra aged Heaven Hill products like EC23 and EC18.
  7. Prav has a different clientele than most stores. He also benefits from DC liquor laws that allow him to acquire bottles from the secondary and resell. It’s a museum for the average consumer but he has anything you could want including a Old Fitzgerald “Blackhawk” which is a true unicorn. If your in town for a few days drive north into Maryland. I can give you a list of stores and available store picks.
  8. If you like other Barton products you will likely enjoy it. I am a fan of Barton profiles but would rather buy 1792 12yr for half the price next to around. It’s a a touch heavy on the oak but fairly standard vanilla, caramel, leather profile you would expect from something barreled back when Stripers were on the rebound. I like to try everything so it was worth cracking a bottle but not worth grabbing a backup.
  9. That was released for what would have been Elmer’s 100th and it has a different profile than the 90 proof offering, with slightly older barrels selected for the batch. William Larue is my personal favorite of those pictured with the Colonol Randolph, which was a 1990 release by Van Winkle using AH Hirsch Disillate, coming in a close second. kudos on the Weller SR pickup. Enjoy
  10. Almost anything well aged is in short supply. In 20 years of drinking Bourbon and Rye I have not seen the market like it is now. Compound that with a glass shortage and it’s been hard to keep anything on the shelves. My private group has 40 barrels of 14yo MGP Rye that we are sitting on until bottles come in. Getting into the old stock tonight.
  11. Same thing I have but in black. Great for carry the lead around in 8nB8 country.
  12. Built like a Brick **** House. I still throw one on a old St. Croix Premier “Hatteras Heaver” during Red Drum season down south.
  13. Tough choices: Loaded Redfins, Daiwa Samurai combo I bought from Dick’s 12 years ago (it has caught more trout than any of my fancy setups), Dexter Russell Tiger edge for chunking, Costa Blackfins. BUT when my kids come with me, the Home Depot BUCKET gets my vote. Sinkers in a tray in the bottom, sunscreen, snacks, leader spools, and more. It’s the catch all/carry all and, when one of the rug rats has to drop a deuce 10 miles from drive on ramp, a standard grocery bag over the bucket does the trick.
  14. My son wanted to test out new waders. Couple of Browns, a bass, and a white sucker on the Little Gunpowder
