Mike I see on the Sage site the 13 ft, 14 ft 9 wt and 15 ft 10wt have been sold out for sometime now. Also a few others. I was lucky to get my order in for the 13 ft 9 wt. We’ll see if Sage comes through. They said the end of March. If they don’t, it’s not the fly shop problem they just took the order. When I placed the order, they called me back and said it’s it won’t be available till the end of March. That was in January. One of the other reasons I did not order the 14 ft 9 wt is because it is 6 piece. I’m not a fan of that. I wonder if it hurts the performance of the rod. 6 pc it’s great for traveling. Years ago I ventured into 15 ft 6 piece rod. One cast and I returned it to Orvis the same day. To long of a rod for me and a very soft tip. It’s like using a framing hammer for trim work. Carpenter talk. Lol One of the reasons why 13 ft is my choice of length. I was going to order a G Loomis rod but with your talk about the R8 in your previous posts not this thread and when it became available I jumped on it and order it You see Mike sometimes I listen. Lol Thanks Tom

Good morning Mike I thought I read somewhere you were going to use them in the ocean. You probably meant the inlets or the back bay. That 14 ft R8 is it a 6 pc rod? Tom

I’m waiting for Mike’s answer on this one. Ocean surf use ? Ocean over head casting Or Ocean spey casting Tom

I have that line, It has a 39ft head. The length is above my formular for heads so I have not been using it. I will try it on that new 13 ft R8. Tom

Thanks Mike You are the best Wrapping up the six hour session right now using a 13 foot spey rod. One more round. Much better lol Tom

Changing the subject. Lol Mike I started second-guessing myself. Maybe I should have ordered the 14 ft R8 Yesterday seven hour session out front ocean spey casting my now Orvis 14 ft rod. Quite a workout. Great rod. I decided the 13 foot was the correct length for me spey casting or OHC. Couple factors, I fish every day and my age. I was thinking trying that 7 wt but in my home waters it would be no use. It will just sit on the shelf like my 11 ft Thomas and Thomas Exocett Surf Rod. To bad because it’s a great rod but no good for out front in the ocean. Tom

Thanks The loop stays out of the tiptop when SPEY casting heads. Spey casting only. OHC knot can go inside the guides Why it’s just the way it is. Tom

Here is a picture of the running line 150 foot long I don’t spice them in because I changed the heads too much Tom
-
Very nice gesture Thinking about it I don’t think it will work. I am into two hand OHC and spey casting. Here’s a picture of my connection now. Thanks Tom

You can only fish one rod at a time. I learned that many years ago. Rotation that’s what they say.

Wow lol puppet Mike O Killiefish can you please post in less words. Too much to read. As far as Tipping point I’m still spending and way, way, way ahead of your figure. Lol I’m 73 years old still spending. My wife said to me what do I do with all this fishing equipment I said get a dumpster. Tom
-
Yes, you are correct. I was thinking, two hand rods, and spey rods. That’s what I am into now. Tom
-
Mike We are talking two hand rods as in your post Twist it anyway you want to. I have proven this for myself. That quote is just for you. I usually match or over line rods Tom
-
Mike I have issues with you underlining, the rod massively. Maybe it works for you, but I would not advise it. A lighter line / head is only going to cast out so far. You want the rod to work for you not the other way around. Read this Tom
