    Not Telling
  1. I have readily tossed 4-6 &bait with the SM and it goes the distance, fast. The SM really just takes care of fish so fast it almost not even sporting, almost. If you have a powerful rod you can winch in 4ft rays with no problem at all.
  2. Saw one on Ocracoke, NC on the beach side, and it was trucking along with no problems, backed right up to the high tide line. I was impressed with the Renegade's capabilities honestly, Of course there will be those that say anything new is never better than a predecessor, but they said the same thing about the Cherokee replacing the chief and so on.
  3. I've had mine since April and it's a winch, casts so far it will dump the spool. I would go with some 0.35-0.40mm of your favorite brand/ type line to the brim of the spool. I wish it had an ar-pawl and had a few more bearings to it.
  4. I agree with Jimithing, Abu's are excellent and I think the Penn fathom and Squall 12&15 are great as well. Another beast of a reel is Truth(release reels) reel's SM, and absolute casting beast. I'd say find a rod that can do 1-5 oz so you can toss lead and lures.
  5. I'd like to chime in on the level wind. I would love to have a level wind but I just don't think it will be able to cast over 200 yards without the drive bits reducing distance through the parasitic drag that extra friction creates.
  6. Where is the damn Search Bar?

  7. brembo pads and rotors on all. After all the brakes are what keep you from hitting things, and the best insurance policy you can buy.
  8. Best to show ya instead of tell you. https://youtu.be/uJ0crK-LH2E This is an F2MA which is close, but this is fitted for a conventional.
  9. In case anyone is still looking, ReelKustomReels has sets of stainless 6500 gears on the bay or facebook
  10. From what I have come across in my research is the TSR was manufactured for EU as well as someone(s) here at SOL, and are readily available for sale at various sites. If you can pay less than 300 for it you'd be doing good.
  11. As per Century's website, "Century has made fine fishing rods for over 33 years" so they may be around for a little while longer it's safe to say.
  12. If you're not on SOL to share what you know about anything related to fishing or to learn more about something fishing related, then why are you on here? To laugh and make fun of people's desire to improve their understanding of things, kinda shallow don't ya think?
  13. Gotcha, I have a Shakespeare 12 ft rod that I swear is made of fiberglass, or at least a significant portion of it,so I think I get it with the weight part. Taper and pattern determine the action/ speed of the rod, and weight or ease of use of the rod would be more determined by the material it is made with. In theory then, with a really light weight fast rod you could be able to work longer than a comparable taper/pattern rod from, say, glass then.
  14. I'm just trying to fully understand this topic better. So what you're saying is it doesn't mater what the rod is constructed from, that the taper of the rod is the primary factor that matters, and the material it is constructed from is just some sort of gimmick?
