  1. Couldnt disagree more, numbers. There are few things that completely change a meal more than cooking it over coals. Seafood and chicken even more so than red meat. And Im a lazy cooker too. Always looking for ways to simplify. This step is worth it.
  2. I'm sure there are some things out there that work for specific ailments. I also know there's no real benefit to taking a mens daily multivitamin, which seems like it would be a pretty standard thing. Like you guys said, do the research, tons of differing sources/opinions out there.
  3. People often ask my FIL (retired surgeon) his opinion on vitamins. He always says “well, most of the time they won’t hurt you”.
  4. Dont I wish. I had to go to Giant for my lobster. Set me back $53!
  5. If you were taking a dump and accidentally got a smear of **** on your arm, would you wipe it off with a piece of dry TP and call it good?
  6. Now THAT was a cool story. Dude had some special high-speed rollerskates and would get lit and fly around the Vet concourse at night. Had some crazy stories too. Ran into Dick Vermiel late one night at an elevator. Thought his cover was blown.
  7. The end is nigh… IMG_0768.mov
  8. Really need to treat it like a condiment (on/with something), not as a side-dish or stand alone food. Too overpowering on its own.
  9. Took the fam to a new tapas place on Saturday. The food was excellent and the prices seemed reasonable ($12 for crispy polenta cakes w/ porcini and olives, $18 for citrus cured salmon belly, $22 for grilled octopus). We got a bunch of (predictably small) shareables. Afterwards, the waitress asks if we want dessert. We’re all still hungry, so I said sure what do you have? No dessert menu so she rattles off the options and we all choose something (we VERY rarely get dessert). Check comes out and these tiny little desserts ($26ea) were more than our tiny little meals nearly doubling our overall bill. Is this normal, or am I just a cheapskate? Felt like a money grab.
  10. $2 Chicken taco at a roadside market. Not one bra in the whole joint. Omatepe, Nicaragua
  11. Picture does it no justice, but this was the best fish I ever ate in my life (and I don’t say that lightly). The meat was juicy and the wood charred skin was perfectly seasoned and so crispy and greasy (in a good way). We also had big plates of (tiny) lobsters, shrimp, chicken, rice and beans, pico de gallo, avocado salad, soup (with poached eggs in it), tostones, tortillas, and grilled veggies. It was all prepared and served family style by “Mama Lin” who hugged each of us as we entered like we were long lost family. There were 11 of us total and our bill came out to $13ea including a 15% tip (which is considered the overly generous gringo tip). El Gigante, Nicaragua
  12. They called it bonito. I’ve never caught either before, so not sure.
  13. We had one cooler with beer in it, but all the fish just got tossed in the back of the boat. Whole bottom was full of nasty smelling blood by the time we got in.
