  1. Had a great time, no more skipping for me. Big thanks to guy for orchestrating and thanks to the rest of ya for showing up.
  2. So far I am bringing a single burner, I think 2 more burners is a good thing.
  3. Stoked for this weekend. Ive been to a bunch of these, missed the last 2 events, but I'm back on track. Looking forward to seeing everybody.
  4. I will bring 1 case of bottled water, assorted sodas, single burner stove cooker, ice, and some raffle prizes.
  5. Fall run stripers should start pushing back into the bay and up the system soon. Also fish more than high tides, use the maps to figure where the current breaks, rips, and seams will be when tide is flooding and ebbing. Try those areas and keep an eye out for baitfish. Stripers will be swimming into the current. Don't get discouraged, If you put in the time for the next few months and get some repetition on spots you will learn quite a bit.
  6. Coyote B&T is my go to, Love that spot.
  7. Loaded question. I see a few different rod/reel combos for what your looking to accomplish. 1) your primary beach rod. I would recommend a 9/10ft 10-20lb line class med or med/hvy rod and 5000/6000 sized reel. This will cover bait fishing and will throw some lures as well. Will probably struggle throwing over 2oz. plenty capable to sandcrab for perch and bass on the beach. Lures will be that lc110 and similar swimmer lures, metals, ans bucktails. Diawa BG + 30lb braid would handle this well. Lots of good rod brands, best thing to do is get into a shop and hold them in hands and get the feeling. 2) the rod you hope to chase salmon with on the boats. I would recommend using the rent rods on the party boats. these are usually 7ft 10-25lb line class or 12-30lb line class and drag balls well. There is no good solution for a combo beach and salmon troll rod. Salmon trolling involves dragging a 2.5lb lead sinker through the ocean at 3mph. Trolling is the primary method boats use to target salmon. If you can get on a boat that is going to mooch, will be advertised as a mooching trip and not that common, then the above beach rod might be able to handle it. 3) the crab snare rod. This rod needs to be beefy. That beefstick would do well. Understand crab snaring is rough on reels, particularly the gearing. For this reason the amount of money you spend on the reel will pretty much dictate its lifespan. Cheap reel will be fine for a few trips a year. But if you plan to crab a lot then a more expensive reel with better gearing might be better. 8000 is a solid size for snaring. load up with 65lb braid and send it. To your how much weight question, only as much weight as you need. egg sinkers are popular but pyramids hold bottom better. the size of surf and current will dictate how much eight is needed in that particular spot.
  8. Mike, I saw that exact picture of the speared 50lber. That guy has been on a fly fishing podcast called the barbless podcast it was awhile ago season 3 episode 100 of their show. They had him on again season 4 episode 130 with his dad. In case anyone wants to hear him talk fishing. Slot limit is a good step forward. I was listening in to the meeting, good stuff. Happy 4th.
  9. I work in santa clara county and today is my last day at work until April 7th or until further notice.. the 'shelter in place' allows outdoor activities but the 'social distancing' rule does apply.
  10. Jbraid has been my go-to the last few years, 832 as a close second choice.
  11. Should be in good area for spotted bay bass. I would use 3" swimbaits on leadheads 1/4 to 1/2oz and fish them near the bottom and around structure. Structure is anything and everything other than a flat sandy bottom. Colors pretty much follows, dark day dark color, clear sky light color. Surf perch should also be around on the beaches with the LC110 targeting larger perch and the carolina rigged 2" grub being the gold standard.
  12. First surf perch on the fly rod. Learning curve is a little steep but has been fun and rewarding.
  13. Certainly seems like the new normal.. and even with power shutoffs happening fires were still sparked by PGE equipment.. PGE just needs to fold up and give it up for someone else whos got the money and is ready to replace infrastructure on a massive scale. Until then we'll just sit here in the dark with the trees and hums of generators across the hillsides in felton. We did experience above average winds this time around. The last shutoff the winds went unnoticed around our place.
  14. We lost power 11pm the 9th and got it back around 7pm the 10th. Fired up the generator to keep fridges/freezers, running never saw the wind that was predicted in Felton. The main drag in scotts valley along mount hermon rd never lost power.
