  1. I Will take a look at them when i get home and do some research as well, i actually think i have the shaft for the spinner possibly more than one. when i got them there was not a blade on the one and i was like i think this will fit with one of the blades, sure enough like a glove! thanks for the great info.
  2. you can use braid still in the freshwater. sounds like your have a decent amouunt of luck with the senkos. its basically all about trial and error to find the freshwater set up you like for yourself. It also depends on the fish your gonna target. I mainly target small and large mouth and tie direct. green or camo for me. Its all about personal preference. i love senkos, water melon or pumpkin seed with red flake, crankbaits, that have a rootbeer or watermelon color or even firetiger suspending rapalas, fire tiger and pearch and crayfish colored tube jigs, these are just the basics that i like to have, ive never saltwater fished so this is my personal preference for colors and line for freshwater only. good luck and have some fun with them bass, theres nothing like them!
  3. i have a few storys but i will keep them short. when i was like 7 i got snagged on the bottom out on the boat and as the boat drifted the bottom of jefferson county ripped my moms pole right out of my hand into the deep blue abyss. Two years ago i was muskie fishing and we were trolling for them, i had my rod in the rod holder. btw i was not happy with how the rod holder was set up. well low and behold i got up and took a pee break off the back of the boat when a muskie nailed this rod and ripped it out of rod holder and i set the hook by grabbing the line bare handed before it went over board, few nice line cuts on my fingers, didnt lose rod but its tricky realing a fish in with baggy pants un buttoned, thought this story was worth telling. my buddy turned to get a bevvy out of the cooler and a muskie took his rig right into the water. two weeks later he caught his rod cus he had a floating lure on and just happen to hook it were the fish last left it. sorry no carp were involved but a few good memories for me even though rods were baptised into the deep blue.
  4. I am not familiar with bulldawgs what are they? Are they a bait fish lure or are they a muskie lure? what types of colors do they come in?
  5. I have been keeping an eye on this thread, could you please repost pic, it shows a lil red X. I would like to see it! I believe i have one of these on my boat, but will not have access to the internet to compare over the weekend at the cottage, will be bringing lure home but will want to examin it while i am there, lol!
  6. I have a bunch of old spinners that came with all my other lures, and i finally just got a chance to go through them and get some sort of order. I dont know much about them but most are pflueger, most of the single blades are too. any more info would be greatly appreciated! thank you in advance.
  7. If your getting this many follows for every muskie you catch you may wanna try this simple technique. It may decrease your follow number. When your casting for the muskie and retrieving your lure, when you get to the boat or the shore and you see the follow! Stick the tip of the pole in the water and do a couple figure eights with the lure you are using. sometimes thats enough to entice the hit before you pull out of the water!
  8. They are a fish of a thousand cast's. patients and a few beers will put you in the right direction. its pretty warm out there! i caught all mine in november.
  9. Im happy with all my gear, here is what i have and how it works for me. Maybe this will help in your research for some new gear. I see that i have a different rod than most. so between everyone posting you should have some sufficient data to choose from. Rod-6 foot 7medium heavy pflueger supreme combo, 105 dollars at gander mt. (i chose this set up cus like you i wanted to cast farther and i really wanted to upgrade mainly from my old rods and reels. it was just time to move on. I chose medium heavy because of two reasons, one i fish alot of heavy cover towards august and with a lil heavier line you can rip the bass out of this cover. I should mention 90 percent of the time i fish for bass and the other ten percent musky and pike. reason number two for a MH rod, cus i like to cast for the pike in the evenings sometimes and a lil heavier rods helps, PS. i do not use this rod for musky) Line-15lb spider wire braided camo or green line (i know some of you are prolly thinking why 15lb, although the spider wire beats up on your reel, it does cast much smoother through the titanium eyes and seems to cast way farther, 15lb at 4lb diameter line cus i was using 10 lb at 2lb diameter and when i was using senkos it was not winding back in tight so i would catch of fish and the line would unwind with out the drag working)15lb solved this i think cus its much stiffer.problem but i am open to an other suggestions from anyone as well. im always looking for a new or better way! (if you fish this way tie a polumer knot it holds way better than the fishermans knot i believe its called, fishermans if you dont wrap seven times it seems to let loose in cast, polumer the best knot i believe. ps not sure if i spelled it right though.) Lures-Senkos,Strike kings, rapalas, buzz baits, gulp sinking minnows, tube jigs(strike king has some nice bleeding ones) i left spinners out cus i dont generally use them anymore unless i want pike!although my last few pike hit on my senkos. i generally stick to the same type of colors on every lure, colors-watermelon,pumpkin seed, chartruese, white sometimes and black sometimes and a natural crayfish color. BTW all my rubber baits have some sort of red sparkle in them, i even use a red weighted hook with my senkos and strike kings. my gulp sinking minnnows have red sparkle in them too. mainly i try to blend the color with the bottom of the water i am fishing it always seems to be watermelon that blends the best in rochester and 1000 islands area. Rapalas-fire tiger, chartrues, pearch and there is a nice crayfish back watermelon looking, i like the suspending jointed model. buzz bait-black, white, chartruese is my favorite tube jigs-honestly i am stuck on senkos so i dont use tubes too much you may have more luck than me with them but same colors as senkos are sufficient. kevin vandam didnt win the bassmasters by accident-everyone should have a chrome sexy shad, gold sexy shad and a normal sexy shad in their arsenal, made by strike king,(you wanna cast far this is the lure to do it with and it kills the bass) quick story i once casted from our boat to the road on the harbor by accident, i forgot to put the breaks on cus of the eye candy walking by, she looked at the lure when she walked by and was like what are you doing.BTW we were no weres near that road, it was by far my longest cast ever! this is my main gear and what works for me, hopefully my info helps make your process a little bit easier.
  10. fishing tackle antiques and collectables by Karl t white. This book is one that someone suggested to me on another thread, I am prolly gonna pick it up this weekend hopefully. Also not knowing much yet about the lures. It seems the more i spend in this forum and the more research i do on the lures i have i am learning a whole lot. I am also finding the more time i spend talking, posting and researching a lure, the more intrested i am becoming in that particular company.
  11. would it be expencive to buy the lures for boxes 2,6,7?and were would i beable to find them? and yes the one yellow pikie looks like repaints but idk if its a pro and the one has cup on the tail, there are two other repainted ones too i will take a pic of later for yous to take a look at! thanks again for the info roy c and argent! its been very helpful.
