  4. the Hobie Power Skiff is currently in production at "razorpowerskiff" if you do a search you will find their web site. they may be able to supply you with replacement parts. there is also a Hobie Power Skiff face book site with additional info on our boat. https://www.facebook.com/groups/HobiePowerSkiff/ some parts are available at marine stores. there is a lot of good info on this forum. please read the previous posts. please let us know specifically what you need to do to restore your boat and we will be able to help you find answers to your questions.
  5. simply messing, here is info on gas tanks that look like mine, they are built by moeller "We're revolutionizing the marine industry standards for topside fuel tanks, providing engineering that looks and performs better than any other fuel tanks available. Moeller and Scepter are your one source solution for innovative fuel tank technology. Provides positive seal with Moeller-exclusive injection molded 2-1/4" (57.2mm) fill neck. Mechanically vented fuel cap ensures easy gripping and exclusive ribbed design that floats. Includes mechanical direct-sight gauge with easy-to-read indicator. Manufactured from high-density polyethylene with UV-stabilizing resin. Tested to CSA / ABYC standards. Specifically designed for use in Boston Whalers, Carolina Skiff and Key West bench style, center console, pontoon, deck and jon boat designs. - - Dimensions - 22.9"L x 14.3"W x 11.7"H (9gal) 22.9"L x 14.3"W x 13.6"H (12gal) 24.3"L x 18.1"W x 10.7"H (12gal) * Low Profile" you can check the dimensions above to see if two of the 9gal tanks will fit under the center console seat. these gas tanks are available at most marine stores.
  6. simply messing, since your hobie is equipped with a larger OB, suggest that you think about having your fuel tanks as far forward as possible. instead of building a fuel tank box (aft of the helm seat), suggest that you store your fuel tanks under the helm seat. our hps has two rectangle shaped 9 gal. tiempo plastic fuel tanks that fit snugly under the seat, the prev. owner set this up and used a ss piano hinge mounted on the deck that holds the tanks in place, but allows them to be slid forward for filling or removal. if you are interested in this set up, i can send some photo's of it after the 5th of july.
  7. simply messing. regarding purchasing the Hobie power skiff for $2,000. the hull and trailer are worth more that that without the motor. (strongly suggest that you buy it before some one else does). by the way, this hobie with a 75hp johnson should have a WOT of around 50mph. our hps has a yamaha 85 on it and when trimed out can reach 55mph with two on board and full fuel tanks. hope this helps
  8. HPS fuel tank location. we have the sport model and have two 9 gal plastic fuel tanks(tempo style rectangle shaped tanks) located under the center console seat. it is a fairly tight fit. a ss piano hinge is mounted just forward of the tanks and when the hinge is raised (90 degrees) it keep the fuel tanks from shifting. a ss snap holds the piano hinge up. it's a fairly simple matter to lower the hinge, and slide the tanks forward enough to unscrew the fuel caps on the tanks and fill them. fuel lines run from the fuel tanks to the outboard on top of the deck where they can be inspected easily. each fuel line has an inline shut off valve and the two fuel lines are connected to a "Y" fitting with a single fuel line running to the outboard. that way you can run off of both tanks, or choose to run off of either either tank. alec
  9. to answer your question regarding a boarding ladder on the Hobie Power skiff. because the power skiff is a v bottom boat with low freeboard, a boarding ladder is not needed. if you are in the water placing your weight on the gunnels as you pull yourself out of the water will cause the side of the boat to go deeper into the water, you can then just roll into the boat. if you need additional leverage to get into the boat, you could tie a line fron the bow to the stern cleat, that will go a couple of feet under water. you can use this line to stand on underwater and then hoist yourself into the boat. alec
  10. not aware of the conversion being done, min. hp for the 15' hobie power skiff is 25hp, but most are equipped with 40hp to 60hp. max rated hp was 70. i think the hobie jet boat had a 90hp jet, but you will loose around 30% of your hp with the jet. the size of the outboard will directly effect how fast your power skiff will go. with a 60 or 70 hp you should be able to reach 40+ mph, lower hp will limit you to the 30'smph. our hps is over powered with a yahama 85hp two cycle and will reach 55mph with two on board and full fuel tanks. alec
  11. i'm guessing that the hobie jet power skiff has a thinner transom layup. when you do the conversion you will need to do fiberglass work to plug the hole in the transom, so why not take the oppurnity to strengthen the transom at the same time. i would use marine plywood, epoxy resin with a fiberglass cloth and mat build up to fill the hole and build up the transom to support the weight of the OB. here are a couple of pictures of the hobie jet boat transom good luck on your project. alec
  12. contacted blazer boats by Email. they advise that the (power skiff) molds have been sold and will be heading for California at the end of the month. they did not advise who purchased the molds or who might be building the boat next.
  13. you are correct. the weight of 425lbs was for the base (standard model) with no center or side console, just a couple of bench seats. the hp rating was 60hp on the earily models but changed to 75hp later. alec
