  1. Really good Smallmouth bite this morning. Perfect cloudy conditions with an ideal 10-12mph wind. I love the mid/late November bite. They push up very shallow and are looking to eat. Ended up with 8 in about 3.5 hours of fishing. Most of my bass are running about 4lbs give or take a little. Not many guys out which was surprising given how warm it was. Blade baits continue to get it done for me. They wanted it on the bottom though. Let it sit and wait for the tick.
  2. Yeah, they weighed 4.3 and 4.1 pounds.
  3. It happens. Once you fish them enough you learn how to minimize the bait fouling up. It probably happens one out of every fifteen or so casts now. Using braid with a short flouro leader will give you the best feel.
  4. Chilly morning. Guides were iced up until about 8:30am. Got 3 small lakers and a couple nice Smallies both in the low 4s. Had to move around more than usual. Hit 3 gates. All fish caught on blade baits worked slowly. Silver/chrome is what they wanted.
  5. Dynamite? I could have used some this morning. Real tough bite. Weather forecast was calling for 5-10mph winds. There was zero wind. It looked like a farm pond. Might as well go home when that happens.
  6. Silver Buddy is the original. Try a 3/4oz in gold when cloudy and silver in the sun. Don’t be afraid to let it sit on bottom for a few seconds. They will pick it up and you’ll feel the tick. The 1/2oz Damiki Vault is also a killer blade bait at the Chu. It’s tough to beat a blade for Smallies right now.
  7. Solid. I got 4 yesterday morning in less than ideal conditions (no wind). Only fished for about 3 hours. Biggest was 4.13lbs and all the others were in the 3s. I fished both mornings last weekend and got 3 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. Again, very little wind and bright sun so not the best conditions. All the usual size from 3-4.5lbs. A mix of jerkbaits when there's some wind and blade baits is getting the fish. Good luck!
  8. Football jig if I'm fishing rocky areas. Arky style flipping jigs when I'm fishing around grass or if I know the bottom is mucky. I always use Tungsten. Pricey but feel is so much better.
  9. I've been out a lot. Only target bass though. Smallies are still deep, but are feeding. 1/2oz Jigs with a craw trailer has been doing well. Averaging 4-7 fish in 3-4 hours, so it's solid. As usual size is good with most fish between 2.5-4lbs and the occasional 4-5 pounder as well. They will be moving shallow in the next few weeks. That's when it's time to break out the blade baits and jerkbaits all the way until Nov 30th.. Good shot at a 5+ pounder if you put the time in. See you out there!
  10. The water is very low, but mostly because they are doing work on the dam. They won't be finished until next spring, so it will be low all fall regardless of how much or little rain we get.
  11. I think it's just a coincidence. I have caught at least a few hundred largemouth bass out of the Sud this year and every fish has been healthy. Can't remember one that had any sores. The Sud is invested with Rock Bass. It's not uncommon to catch a dozen or more in an outing when they are up shallow. Especially in the Parmenter area because of the rip rap bank, which they love. They are aggressive as hell and will eat large baits.
  12. Very nice Smallie. Well done!
  13. Same bait different color.
  14. That’s an S Waver 168. I use it all the time and have caught at least a dozen lakers and several quality Smallies on it. I use the phantom trout color though which is more transparent.
  15. That's a very effective bait at the Chu. Don't take any hooks off and don't change them either. It's perfectly balanced out of the package to suspend.
