  1. Bump, Snow is on the ground and would love to see some new rigs.
  2. Hi Tim, thanks so much, I sent a payment for $185 yesterday, I have more confidence in Ryan's striders than just about anything else for most conditions. Also a personal thanks for SOL it has benefitted many individuals, the industry, the fishery and the passion of fishing from the surf.
  3. Tim, I'll take any and all striders you have. Regards, Robert
  4. Hi Tim, I'll take whatever Striders you have left, I see #8 and #30 in a different post that's locked.Regards, Robert
  5. Right now it's 14 city 18 highway, I have an Apexi SAFC II that is included, it's an air flow controller that can be installed to change the Air/Fuel ratio. I don't have the time to install.
  6. I'll post some pictures of the interior, the hitch in the back is integrated into the custom bumper so that ground clearence is maximized. I use a 8" drop for the ball. When there is no ball there is a plate to cover the reciever as in pic 2. * (*edited - please don't post commercial links here - thanks. TimS)
  7. My Fishing Jeep is for sale, I will list here for a week before listing elsewhere. I purchased from Brooklyn, NY as a garaged, excellent condition XJ with 51k miles. I immediately had it undercoated with hot oil treatment (there was zero rust). The upgrades are extensive. The entire interior was removed, cleaned and the floor pans coated with truck bed liner and then new carpets installed. The roof is painted with truck bed liner as well as the middle of the doors down. The front bumper is custom made from 1/8 steel plate as is the rear from Logan’s Metal Works (http://www.logansmetals4x4.com/id8.html ). The roof rack is all welded 1 inch steel tube from JCR off-road fabrications. The roof lights are Hella 500, the reverse roof rack lights are also Hella. The engine has a web page all to itself (http://www.maizekustoms.com/pages/jeep-4.0l-to-4.6-stroker-build.php ). The head work with oversize intake and exhaust valves to the champhered intake runners, roller rocker etc, etc, etc: The engine has less than 12k miles and the first 10k it ran only with Joe Gibbs racing synthetic with zinc. It has 25lb Ford 5.0GT injectors, a 63 mm smooth bore throttle body, and custom cold air intake with washable filter, ONIX twin header and new exhaust. Front seats are new recaro style that recline. Rear seats are mint. There is an Anderson Power products 12Vdc connector bolted to the front bumper for 2 Cyclinder Air Pump(included), Winch, Inverter and jumper cables. New Steel Rims with 31 inch all terrain tires. Rubber mounts for high lift jack on roof rack (included). It has an Innovate LC1 wide band O2 sensor and gauge dash mounted. It has a rough country 3.5 inch lift kit with new springs and shocks all around. Bushwacker fender flares, license bracket in front is 2" receiver for mounting cooler/rod holder. I am sure there are other upgrades that I am forgetting about, however, I built it to last 40+ years and that was my priority. In additon there are 4 new mounted radial 31" tires. The rod rack, high lift jack, shovel, air pump, jumper cables are included. I would rather sell it to someone here than somewhere else. I can be reached at 802 777 4662. I'll sell it here for $9,750.00 firm.

  9. The Jeep 4.0 engine is designed to run at 195-210*F under normal conditions. Under certain conditions, the coolant temperature can rise to 220*F and this is normal: 1. Very hot weather (>100*F) 2. Idling or crawling in slow traffic with A/C off 3. Scaling long inclines 4. Towing The engine should NEVER RUN AT ABOVE 220*F if the cooling system is working properly. The coolant temperature is not permitted to rise above 220*F by the cooling fans. A stock Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0L engine has two cooling fans. The main fan is a viscous clutch fan that is mounted to an engine-driven idler pulley. When the engine is cold, the fan freewheels and has little cooling effect. When the engine is hot, the clutch engages and the fan spins at a speed proportional to engine speed and keeps the engine cool. The auxiliary fan is electric. It is triggered by a relay either when the A/C is switched on or when the coolant temperature reaches 220*F (105*C). It switches off again either when the A/C is switched off or when the coolant temperature has fallen back to 200*F (93*C). The stock thermostat is rated to open at 195*F. This ensures a fast warm up from a cold start. A coolant temperature of 195*F is optimum on a stock engine for emissions control, fuel economy and engine longevity. Many Jeep 4.0 owners encounter overheating problems particularly in hot summer weather. This is usually due to a defective cooling system component. There are, however, some deficiencies in the normal stock cooling system that can be overcome to ensure that the engine runs in its normal operating temperature range. Here's an outline of some easy upgrades that can be performed by any competent DIY mechanic with some simple hand tools.
