  1. What real seats have you guys used (size) and how far from the butt did you locate the bottom of the real seat? I’m going to tape up the rod and practice different configurations but I’ll probably start with the bottom of the real seat 18 inches from the bottom of the blank
  2. Here is my very first batch of bucktails that I made. I made a fluidizing bed for the powder coating. I tried using dust masks material as a filter but it didn’t work very well so I ended up using thin brown paper lunch bags. The lunch bags work good not great but good enough. I heated the jigs in an old toaster oven for 20 minutes at 350. Then I did a quick heat with the lighter and then dipped the jig in the powder for about 20 seconds to really cake on the powder. Then I baked the jigs again for 20 minutes. I have to work on my bucktail tying techniques. I’m going to try it out tomorrow to see if I could catch some bluefish and red fish from the surf.
  3. I am on my way to the mudhole store near Orlando Florida looking to build the GSB 108 1L i was going to go with 25,16,12, then 4 single foot 8 to tip. I would greatly appreciate some opinions and recommendations I’m looking to throw half ounce bucktails to 2 ounce swimmers
  4. I cast a bunch of jigs this weekend so hopefully this week I can try it out. I also made some filters out of thin lunch paper bags.
  5. I meant to post this in the lure building forum but I put it in the trade forum by accident and then I tried to repost it again and again I put in the trade forum arrghhh
  6. ere is my new fluid bed for powder coating some lead jigs. This one is made of 1.5 inch PVC schedule 40 pipe. The filter media used is actually a dust mask that I glued on. Total cost was about $20 but that includes 5 feet of PVC pipe. The brass fittings were half the cost. I couldn’t find any plastic NPT fittings. Assembly time was about 15 minutes

  8. The kayak is in great condition It is nine years old. The gaskets, bungee and hatch straps are in great condition. The bottom has scratches from beach landings. I filled the kayak wIth water today and there were no leaks.
  9. Malibu eXtreme Fishing Kayak The sleek eXtreme earns its title with unparalleled stability, exceptional speed, tons of storage, a carefully designed deck layout, and spacious cockpit seating designed for performance. The Extreme truly is the ultimate combination of a fishing kayak, diving platform and touring boat. You won't have to sacrifice speed for stability with this kayak. It is still incredibly stable while remaining one of the fastest paddling sit on tops on the market. Specifications: Length: 15' Width: 31.5" Depth: 10" Weight: 58lbs Weight Capacity: 525lbs All eXtremes include bow and stern handles, side carry handles, bungee storage, adjustable foot rail systems, drain plug and eyelets. The Fish & Dive model includes three hatches and four flush mounts. Paddle included. Beach dolly included Center rod mount included I have caught hundreds of fluke and blue fish off this kayak. When I bought the kayak the salesman said it was the Cadillac Escalade of kayaks. Big, stable, lots of storage and once you get going it can move. I was once out in the ocean off orient point when the seas went from 1 foot to 4 foot in a half hour. I fished a little while longer. Caught a four foot sand shark and then paddled in. This kayak handled the conditions without a problem and I was never worried about my safety. I would not do this with the toy kayaks sold at Costco/BJs/Sports Authority at the price I am selling this kayak. I can even pee standing up on this kayak. Price $450 OBO Loacated Oakdale NY
  10. I called NYS Police today and spoke to a trooper. He said DMV will give you passenger plates if you tell them to. However, if you are driving a pickup over 5500 lb on a NYS parkway and you get pulled over you get two tickets. One for driving a commercial vehicle and another for having an improperly registered vehicle.
  11. A few years ago, my mom and her finace drove down from Buffalo to visit my sister in Queens. He drove his van with commercial plates and he got ticketed right away while parked.
  12. I was thinking about getting a F150 crew cab 4WD with a 6.5 ft bed. The DMV web site says the max weight to get passenger plates is 5500 lbs. The sticker inside the door on one truck I looked at today has a GVWR of 7350 lb and a max payload of 1295 lb which gives a vehicle weight of 6055 lb. I have heard that DMV used to let this slide but now they are being strick. The salesman at the dealer said it would be no problem to get passenger plates and salesman never lie. Actually, I have heard of guys being told by the dealer they are getting passenger plates on F250s they were buying but when they went to pick up the truck they had commercial plates. Anyone here register a 4WD F150 crew cab recently? Thanks
  13. I don't ever ask for spots but in this case it's for snappers. My nephew wants to go fishing so I figured I'll start him with snappers. He is 3 1/2 so I bought him a little rod/reel combo from J&H, no snoopy rods for the little guy. I have not fished for snappers in a long time except from the yak to use as bait. I would greatly appreciate some spots to take him. Thanks
