Found it to be junk. Rocks up in the bag and rips off the hook easily. Doesn't move consistently in the water and is not supple unless exposed to water. Can catch lot of fish with it but just not a maximally productive material. Better stuff on the market today none of which as good as the natural UJ material.

The lightest for beach or bay only? Daiwa BG 2500 w/ 6’ fast action rod and 10 lb braid and snap jig or similar Probably best to leave that to those with a lot of experience A more practical set up is a 9’ medium w/ VS200/250 but will not work on rough days and wind in your face where you need to punch the offering The best all around to plug artificala is a 10’ medium stick and a VS 250 & 40 lb braid with that you have the versatility to fish sand beach, sandy inlet, rock flanked inlet, Montauk, the entire north shore and any sea creature you may hook.

The point is being intimate with the tool in your hands. You can clean and grease the reel in five minutes and check for water. Easy. I don’t change seals if no water. My reel is under water all the time.

It hardly goes bad. In my experience the seals tend to last a long time. You can open and clean and put new grease easily. If you have water inside you will know very quickly.

Using modern braid I don’t even think about line twist. Its simply no longer a concern. I spool line myself cranking it on with welding gloves and the wine interwoven around the fingers. Braid is packed tight. Never got the consistent results I wanted from a tackle shop. Especially with old VS when they hump it.

The “fisherman” doing stuff like this are not catching and releasing prolific numbers of Striped Bass. 10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish. This could not be more true than now. I commend you for educating “a kid”, hopefully he will learn. The guy waiting five minutes for a snap is doing it because it does not happen often for him. The bigger a deal someone makes out of catching and releasing a fish, you know, they don’t have the opportunity very often.

How far is the reel seat from the butt? 225 offer cash
