  1. I mean, it would be nice to only have to work 32 hours a week and get paid for overtime after 8 hours/day or 32 hours/week. but lets be honest, it would be a complete disaster.
  2. I pay a good bit of attention to these jobs reports. they have been screwy for quite some time. people like reading only the headline when it looks good but if you dig deeper it usually isnt so rosy.
  3. when you said "and thats good enough" that explains everything. people dont really care about what his views were or how he was, all they care about is that he was the anti-putin. I am unsure if he was really even against the ukraine war or if he was just using that as another opposition opportunity. He did support the russian invasion of georgia and even made comments about sending them (calling them cockroaches) cruise missiles. while he acknowledged crimea was taken illegally he also said that crimea belonged to russia and that if elected he would not give it back. that was likely just another opposition opportunity towards putin. he also acknowledged that a lot of eastern ukraine was ethnic russian and stated that ukrainians and russians were "one people". he also didnt really like ukraine and ukraine wasnt very fond of him either. despite being half ukrainian himself, would speak ill about the country and especially the politics and corruption of ukraine. I wonder how much he really opposed any occupation of ukraine or if it was just another opportunity to be the opposition. its hard to get a good read on him as he constantly flip flops and projects mixed messages.
  4. he also did a video where he dressed up as a dentist and compared immigrants to rotten teeth and said they all must be removed. Im not arguing that its good or bad that hes dead and of course being killed as a political prisoner is horrible. I just find it kind of funny that all the sudden hes a hero of the left when if he were here in the USA the left would eat him alive for his views. he supported the invasion of georgia and while he acknowledged that crimea was taken illegally he said that if elected he would not give it back because it belonged to russia. he was nothing more than a cheap counter position and populist that wanted power. when everyone hates putin its very easy for them to get behind someone that is his opposition. kind of like a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" mentality. simply being the opposition is not a good trait as some people seem to think.
  5. some federal holiday will probably be made to excuse them from work.
  6. it really isnt that bad at all. that video is more of a out of the box maintenance video. many people with the pdl drive spend a few bucks on the "floating prop nut" that that guy and others sell. you can twist it on and off with your hand and need no tools to change a prop. when doing it on the water you also dont need to spray anything. it is quite simple like that. twist off prop nut, pull prop, replace pin, put on prop, twist on prop nut. can take 30 seconds or less.
  7. those are shear pins. they are designed as a sacrificail part to break before something else breaks and causes catastrophic damage. make sure you carry spares with you because if you break it away from the boat ramp your pdl drive will likely be useless until you replace it. its very easy to replace when needed and only takes a few seconds. spray with corosion inhibitor to keep the part from corroding and failing. I would also check out "navarre kayak fishing" they have a good youtube channel and a great online store. he carrys official old town parts and also prints his own aftermarket parts that are good. I would suggest getting an additional prop, additional shear pins, and floating prop nuts and keeping them in a in a kit on the yak in case you need to repair or replace any of those parts on the water.
  8. chevy has a fairly new 4 cylinder turbo engine for the silverado 1500s. I picked one up last year. I was very hesitant about a 4 cylinder turbo in a full size truck but I will have to admit I am very impressed with it. Ive had no real issues with the truck and it has gotten great gas mileage. yesterday I drove from winchester, va to virginia beach and back and still had almost 1/4 tank left. at one point the gauge on my dash had my last 450 miles at 28.2 mpg.
  9. the federal law really has nothing to do with the state level. as mentioned, my state requires and I already received mine. no doubt the IRS will use it. the "relief" they gave was just postponing that it had to be reported until the next year. in the instance that it still gets reported they will count it.
  10. yeah. the IRS has a line drawn between hobby and business. its ridiculous. but theres also those that are neither a business or a hobby. fishing stuff can be expensive. look just through the BST forum on here and see how much people on here were selling for over $600. usually its just getting rid of old rods and reels. even on the first page there are multiple single items like van staals or shimano stellas that are $600 or more. I wouldnt classify them as a business or an income generating hobby. if they take paypal G&S they will get a 1099 for that in about a year and probably have a rude awakening.
  11. I did. I heard back this morning. they will not do that. this is what they sent me this morning "As the dollar amount on your 1099-K Form is a gross amount, any adjustments for credits, cash equivalents, discounts, fees, refunded amounts, or any other amounts will not be netted out. " thats complete horse****. now I have to report it. now I will have to upgrade my tax return to a more complicated return and pay more to have it done.
  12. this whole thing has turned into a big joke. as I understand there are multiple tax benefits available to self employed but not hobbyist. the IRS wants to tax your hobby income as if you are self employed but dont want to give your hobby income the same tax benefits as if you were self employed. its a load of bull and like you said, it opens up a can of worms. im pissed paypal just sent me mine. im trying to find out if theres a way they they can fix it or amend it before they send it to the IRS if they havent already. I doubt ill be succesful. they sent me a 1099 for $1,350 which is bogus. someone owed me money sent me $1,350. I told them not to even send paypal and just give it to me when they saw me. they insisted so I told them if they did they had to send it friends and family. they messed up and send it goods and services and it was immediately refunded in full. that should have cancelled out the sale. now im stuck with a 1099 that will be reported to the IRS if it hasnt been already saying i made $1,350 in additional income that needs to be taxed when that isnt the case.
  13. gas and oil prices were so easy to see going higher when biden announced he was going to stop pulling from the reserve and put more in. just since he stopped pulling crude went from about $72 a barrel to over $80. there are some other interesting price increases such as lumber which slumped pretty bad has skyrocketed in january so far, up about 35% since the month started. I really have no idea what it will look like. it will be interesting to see.
