  1. Ugh, not the news I was looking for, logging in to SOL after many months of absence. Eddie was a great guy. Very sad news. RIP FishPimp
  2. If you have a group of guys go to the Rathskeller in Charlestown.
  3. I think you would be lucky to get $3000. I was going to say $2500.
  4. yes, I am talking about sea/surf clams. shoulder deep at low tide if you are my height. the same big 5"+ shells that wash up all along the south facing beaches that kids have been making into ashtrays for their parents for decades. Spisula solidissima I am well aware how they are used commercially, I worked next to the largest sea clam processing plant in the country for over 10 years, and I have visited many other clam buying stations and processors around this country and others, as I have been buying and selling fish & shellfish for 20 years... And i will stand by my statement that they do not taste nearly as good as real hard shell quahogs in chowder or stuffies.
  5. you can get sea clams galore if you are tall enough at low tide inside the HoR. i do not think they taste that good, even in chowder or stuffies. i never tried them for bait, maybe one of these days.
  6. Besides the licenses, there is massive economic impact. Go into any bait shop, or walmart, or dicks or wherever the day before opening day of trout and there is a mild fervor. Shelves are empty. Get out there first thing in the AM and the banks of every stocked water, of which there are many, are lined with adults & children alike. And besides economic impact, there is massive emotional impact. You fill your boy's cooler with 5 fish and head to breakfast. And maybe they don't taste like BSB, but they are not bad eating. Memories are created. Future anglers are born. Family bonds are strengthened. Lessons in sportsmanship and stewardship are taught. The fact that the value of our trout stocking program is being debated on a website dedicated to fishing is SHOCKING to me. Our state does an awesome job, and it is one of the things that we should be PROUD of that the state does...
  7. i personally can't wait to fish the ponds in a few weeks...
  8. agree on the bleach being instant removal. i use clorox cleaup spray on my boat for every cleaning. spray, light scrub, rinse. shiny white.
  9. same in RI. Register as "home made." works without issue.
  10. shoulder deep at low tide. scuff along with bare feet and you will find more than you need.
  11. which end the north or south? The only sign I know of is right at champlins (north end of wall), heading into the pond. Which would imply that most of the "breachway" is actually NOT a no wake zone. I usually throttle back, as do most, when entering the breach (at the southern end) on the way in, or exiting the breach (at the southern end) on the way out.
  12. i was never sure if the "no wake" zone started at the entrance to the breachway chanell, or once you hit champlins.
  13. i can't believe i just wasted 10 mins figuring that out....! james 20 1st Kev 14 2nd Stu 17 3rd John 22 4th
  14. I have one and can agree to all of this. I have fished many days/nights at/around block, all over n.bay, and far out and around rhode island sound, up to 10-15 miles offshore. my boat has seen & handled some pretty gnarly sht... very soft & dry ride in a head sea, too, especially for her size. the only downfall is that it IS a 19ft center console. there is not a lot of room for storage or family needs. will probably sell mine soon to get a bigger norhcoast that is more family friendly.
  15. FYI, Autopilot is extremely useful and practical in most boats 25ft +. Its misuse, however, is certainly common, especially in the self captained mini yacht & searay set. Hopefully this tragic event will bring light to this issue, and educate those who run autopilot without a watch. Not to take anything away from the extremly sad death of Mr. Krupinski, a guy just out there doing what he loved. So Sad. RIP. Hopefully people learn from this tragedy.
