  1. Rufnk, Thanks for the info. I'll be hittin the Canyon in a couple of days! Thanks Bobby!!
  2. Does anyone know of schools of Tuna that are "ready to play"? Last year I went up to Green Harbor and there was nothing! Can anyone tell me the general vicinity that Tuna are roaming? Thanks Bobby
  3. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the Canyon has schoolie Yellowfin/Bluefin bite yet? Or Southern Jersey?
  4. Hi! I've got a bunch of older Penn reels because to tell you the truth, they are built like a brick sh-t house. I w3ould say that they are a great reel to start off with because they are the lowest maintainance reel I know. Once every 2 years you send the reel back to Penn in Penn. and tell them to give it the once over. And you have a reel that is as good as new! Depends how much work the reels do. You might have to service them once every 4-5 yrs.

    BFT?

You feel I have never caught a Tuna or been on a boat when a Tuna has been caught? You got all of that out of a little post I wrote! No I have caught several 80-90lb. Yellowfin and that is how we were taught to hook them. Thanks for your help but don't let that Elite Member ''title'' get to your head!!
  6. I am going to fish aboard the Relentless. A boat out of Green Harbor. I am from NYC and have only fished for Yellowfin Tuna. I would like to know if you leave your reel in freespool, count to 5 and then lock the reel and fight the fish:confused:

  8. I have one Abu, and it is a millionaire. I do alott of ocean and bay fishing for fish weighing from 12pds. to 120 pds. It seems as though most of you guys showing these reels are freshwater fishermen because to be truthful most of these Abus' don't seem to have too much strength to them! Seems as though 25 pds is the limit!
  9. Don't want to take a trip up there if there's nothin' happening yet. Interested in jigging some 70-90lb. tunas'. Thanks!
  10. When I fish for Tuna out at the Canyon, there are hundreds of them coming up to the boat lights. You catch them and use 'em for bait.
  11. I put any reel I want on any rod I want! The only time it makes a difference to me is when I'm Black fishin'. Because feel is so important when fishing for them. After 3-4 times of fishing with "your setup" you are used to it.
  12. Are there any Sheepshead in NY or are they all gone south?
  13. The Karen Ann is his boat, well he has 4 of them! He is the master of Jamaica Bay. He is a boat fisherman, you won't be surf fishing. I have been fishin' with him for 8 yrs. and was skunked once! Give 'em a call! He has a website.
  14. I have a '95 Nissan Pathfinder V6. It is one of the best sand vehicles around. The way you know a vehicle is good is by looking around and noticing how many you still see on the road! And you must take air out of the 4 tires to make a larger footprint and better traction! My vehicle was bought 4 yrs. ago for $3,600 and had 105K miles. One thing, 4 wheelin' uses mucho gas!
  15. The reels are excellent! I bought 3 on line 4 yrs. ago and they are smooth as hell. The only thing that is tough with those reels is putting all the washers back together underneath the drag star. They are all different sizes and you must put them back in size order!
