  1. My wife just picked hers up a month ago. It was built 08/29/20. Ran the s/n and it said it is not affected. Only had it to the range once. About 50 rounds thru it. I guess I'll keep it in the safe for awhile and see if any others are affected. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. It was personal and I'd will not repeat it here (or anywhere).
  3. This is an apology to a fellow SOL member who is my friend and fellow fisherman. I'm hope he reads this. I have called, texted, PM’d, and emailed you several times, but you have not replied. I am not exactly sure what I did or said that ticked you off so much. The only thing that I can think of is a comment I made during the last text message conversation we had back in March. The comment was inappropriate and was said as a joke and not meant to be offensive. I am truly sorry for the comment and my total lack of judgement is inexcusable. I’m sure that our relationship will probably never be the same given the fact that whatever I did or said must have hurt you very much. I always looked forward to our conversations on the beach, and hearing from you on text messages. I hope that you can forgive me. MattG
  4. Well, if you got a quote fot less than $50.00, you obviously need to talk with Penn about the discrepancy. the only thing I would suggest, is that you try and resolve the problem by contacting Penn first before you trash them on a forum like this. Penn's customer support is very good. You probably should have posted this in the Penn forum. I'm sure they will give you an explanation.
  5. Not sure what you expected from Penn. Their web site clearly states the pricing for reel repairs. this is from their website; All prices below effective January, 2014. The following charges are used in calculating the total cost of your reel repair. Handling/Processing/Packaging/Diagnosis/Supplies Fixed fee = $10.00 per reel Flat Labor rate = Based on model as listed below. Parts = Per Consumer Price List Shipping = Per UPS rates So before you sent it in, you should have known it was going to cost you $10.00 for handling/processing/packaging/diagnosis/supplies fixed fee, $35.00 flat rate labor fee for an International biatcaster, cost for any parts required, and shipping fees. When you sent it in, you should have known you were already at $45.00 not counting any parts required and shipping costs. So if I'm reading this right, you were willing to spend shipping cost to send it to Penn. Penn was going to charge you $10.00 figure out what is wrong with the reel, along with shipping fees to send it back to you, and applical taxes. So since the cost was over $50.00 you would have been ok with that??
  6. I had the HF 25 foot. It worked ok but the hose was a little bulky. 25 foot was not long enough, so I got a 75 foot from Tractor Supply. Works ok but the hose is a little flimsy. Not sure it would hold up under heavy use.
  7. I know Reel Em In and fish with him often. When he says it is in excellent condition, you can take it to the bank. He maintains his equipment
  8. I'm no expert, but you might not be able to file under the NJ lemon law. This is from the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs... "New Jersey’s New Car Lemon Law protects you when you purchase a new motor vehicle that develops serious warranty defects which the dealer or manufacturer cannot repair. The law covers vehicles during the first two years from the original date of delivery or 24,000 miles - whichever comes first."
  9. just wanted to add my Tacoma frame saga to this thread. I, like DrewC, am now involved with my second rusted frame. My first was a 2000 Tavoma that Toyota bought back. I took that check and bought a new 2010. I thought that after 10 model years, Toyoto would have figured out how to make a frame that would not turn into swiss cheese. This weekend I was getting ready to rotate the tires and check the front brakes that started to squeal. I got the jack and looked at where to put on the front driver side. I am used to seeing rust on my Toyotas, but something did not look right. I pushed on it and my finger and it went thru the frame. Took it to Toyota on Tuesday, and I am now waiting for a new frame. They said 5 months to get a frame because 2010 access cabs are in high demand. I didn't ask any questions because of the 5 months backlog. I'll try and keep updating this as the saga continues.
  10. I have used this with a minimag lite for many years and has served me well. Quick to grab, turn on, and good to go. I changed the lense cover to red to save my night vision. My pics didn't load right. You can get the idea from this article. https://www.safetyonline.com/doc/lite-bite-mini-flashlight-0001
  11. I always stop and help, but you went way beyond anything I would have done."You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!"
  12. I think the fat lady is warming up. Down 98
