  1. My wife and I want to create a Will not so much as to who gets our "stuff" but more importantly who will raise our children. And to ensure that the State of CT won't take custody of them at all. My questions, are programs like Kiplingers WILLPower worth the money? Do I still need a lawyer to endorse the document if I do it myself? If I do need a lawyer to endorse it, how much does it cost? Thanks in advance Carl
  2. How about some Yogi isms! There was an article in the local paper some time ago about some of the things that Yogi Berra said. Here's just a few: When asked what would he do if he found a million dollars? "If the guy was poor, I'd give it back" Peeved at being ridiculed for buying a lot of life insurance - What's the good of spending all that money anyhow? Yogi - "I will get if all back when I die." When asked as a manager who he was going to pitch in tomorrow's game. he responded "I haven't decided yet, but I might change my mind." When the waitress asked if he wanted his pizza cut into four slices or eight, "Four, I don't think I can eat eight." When asked if he takes a nap before a night game, "I usually take a two -hour nap from one to four. And one of his more common responses to a question "I wish I had an answer to that question, because I'm getting tired of answering it." Carl W
  3. I'm taking the family to Virginia Beach next week and I was hoping to wet a line from the surf a few times. I was hoping for some info on decent spots, lures, bait, tackle shops, regulations, etc. Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Carl
  4. I have used the Diawa Eliminator 9' for two years. It performs well for the price. I use it for plugs and eeling. I also have an Ugly Stick although I don't use it much. When I did, the two pieces did come apart when casting at times. I remember reading that using bees wax on the connection helps. I never really tried it though. Carl W

    Please help

I am going to be in the Western Long Island area (Kings Point USMMA) for two weeks starting 4-29-01 and I was hoping to wet a line during that time. I do most of my fishing in Rhode Island and am not familiar with LI. I am wondering if anyone can offer some locations that I might C&R some spring stripers. I'm not asking for anyone's honey hole, just some know spots that I can drive to. Thanks in advance Carl
  8. Oscar II Class Subs weigh around 16,500 tonnes submerged, that is, with seawater in the ballast tanks. Since the sub is on the bottom, it is safe to assume that not only the ballast tanks are full but also a certain portion of the pressure hull (people tank). Not knowing the flooded volume, it is still probably 2 to 3 times as heavy as the submerged tonnage. That's a lot of tonnage to float or tow off the bottom. The DSRV thing would work if the Russians actually had one. Which since they don't see the value of the human only the machine, they don't. I suppose that is why they have a conscript Navy and we have a volunteer Navy. I would be supprised if anyone is still alive.
  9. It is sad that those sailors will probably die. I heard that they will run out of O2 by Friday. We will never know what really happened. I don't believe the claim that there are no nuclear weapons on board either. Let's put this in perspective: Most of the submarine fleet is rotting at the dock. This is a relatively new boat and a LARGE one at that. They have little money to maintain what they have, let alone pay for "training missions" without payload! YEAH RIGHT!!! The mentality of the Russian military has been and always will be that people are expendable and machinery is more valuable. I am glad that at least they have allowed the British to help them. The Brits actually invented some of the technology that the U.S. uses for deep rescues. The Russians will never allow the U.S. to help them, an considering that we are the only nation in the world not designing with metric (SI) units there is a good chance our vehicle would not mate with the hatch on the sub. It is sad however, that the high ranking officers answering to the Kremlin (with there feet dry breathing clean air) are making decisions that will probably kill these men.
  10. I have only fished around Fishers Island a few times and always from a boat. The locals go out of their way to make life uncomfortable for visitors. There is only one gin mill on the whole island and that is in the hotel. That island seems to be run by the Golden Rule - he who has the gold, makes the rules. It seems that access to many of the rocky "fishy" areas would have to be through private property. I believe that because of the lack of fishing pressure on and around the island, makes for excellent conditions. Just my opinion.
  11. As far as I know, if the local police issue a permit to carry a conceled firearm, the permit is only valid within that town. The State Police issue the permit for the entire state. Just wondering if this guy is following the same laws you and I follow?
