I'm just wondering how long they actually last.... Iv'e replaced way too many Fluorescent Shop light Fixtures... I'm hoping that electrical hockey puck thing in the middle doesn't get all wonky after a year ot two

LED is a great technology, they will outlast you in many cases. We are going to update all of our lighting to LED this year. I have a friend that went that route last year with the CREE lights and he said his electricity bill was cut in half.

Do you need new fixtures or can you put LED's in existing ones?

Depends on the bulb type. for standard bulbs and CFL's, its just a screw in bulb for replacement, for recessed lighting, it is like what RR has pictured above. They are not cheap, but pay for themselves really fast. Also, from the research I did, it is best to buy only the Phillips or the CREE as they put out a much better light and illuminate a broader area like a standard bulb. Other brands seem to act more like a spot light.

Some of the standard bulb items may have a "prebate" already included from your utility company. I can get Cree 60W equivalents for $3.99 - $4.99 here.

I'll have mine on the rocks.

Damn good price, the ones I was looking at are averaging $12.00 each. We are looking at around $150.00 to do our house.
